**Chapter 85: Preparing for Arrival**
Part 85
Four weeks had passed since Ashley had last relaxed in the evenings, and now at 34 weeks pregnant, she was feeling like she was finally getting into a rhythm. The baby's nursery was all prepared, with a beautiful crib, changing table, and adorable wall decals. Alex was excited to meet his new sibling, and Ashley and Alex were working on preparing him for the arrival. As Ashley sat on the couch with Alex, she had a stack of children's books about becoming a big brother and having a new baby. She had chosen them specifically to help Alex understand what was happening and to get him excited about the new addition to their family. Alex was curious and loving, and Ashley knew he would be a great big brother. "Okay, buddy, let's read some books about your new baby," Ashley said, holding up a colorful book with a picture of a baby on the cover. Alex nodded eagerly, snuggling up close to Ashley on the couch. The first book they read was about a big brother who was nervous about having a new baby in the house. Ashley read the story aloud, pointing to pictures of the baby and explaining that soon they would have a new baby just like in the story. Alex listened intently, asking questions and making comments as they read. As they turned the pages, Ashley couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and excitement. She was really going to be a mom to two little ones soon, and the thought filled her with joy. The next book they read was about a family preparing for a new baby, and it had a big picture of a mom with a big belly, just like Ashley's. Alex pointed to her stomach and said, "Mommy's belly is like that too!" Ashley smiled and hugged him, feeling grateful for this little boy who was going to be such a great big brother. As they read, Ashley made sure to show Alex her bump, explaining that the baby was growing inside and would be coming out soon. Alex was fascinated, and he kept reaching out to touch her belly, saying "Hi, baby!" over and over. Avan walked into the room, smiling at the scene before him. "How's it going?" he asked, sitting down beside them on the couch. Ashley smiled, and Alex looked up at him with a big grin on his face. "We're reading books about the baby," Alex said, holding up one of the books. Avan nodded, taking a look at the pictures and listening as Ashley continued to read. As they finished up the last book, Ashley felt a sense of accomplishment. She knew that they still had a few weeks to go before the baby arrived, but she felt like they were making progress. Alex was excited and curious, and Ashley was grateful to have such a loving and supportive partner in Avan. As they put the books away, Ashley looked at Avan and smiled. "I think we're getting there," she said, feeling a sense of hope and anticipation for the arrival of their new baby. Avan smiled back, putting his arm around her and pulling her close. "We are," he said, "and it's going to be amazing."
