"Moments of Unspoken Understanding"

Part 3

The hours ticked by, and Katsuki found himself lost in thought, his mind replaying the events of their training exercise. He couldn't shake the feeling that he'd misread Izuku's reaction, that there was more to it than met the eye. As he sat in his dorm room, staring blankly at the wall, he heard a faint knock at the door. Katsuki's head snapped up, and he felt a spark of surprise. He wasn't expecting anyone, especially not Izuku. He got up and made his way to the door, his heart beating slightly faster. When he opened the door, he was met with Izuku's sheepish expression. Izuku looked down at his feet, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "Hey," Izuku muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. Katsuki raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What brings you here, Izuku?" Izuku took a deep breath and looked up, his eyes locking onto Katsuki's. "I'm sorry, okay? For acting weird earlier. I just...I didn't know how to react." Katsuki's expression softened, and he stepped aside, allowing Izuku to enter. Izuku hesitated for a moment before stepping into the room. "Come on, sit down," Katsuki said, gesturing to the bed. Izuku sat down, his eyes fixed on the floor. "I just...I don't know, Katsuki. You did that thing, and I...I didn't know how to handle it." Katsuki's eyes narrowed, trying to understand. "What thing?" Izuku's cheeks flushed deeper. "You grabbing my arm, and whispering that...that thing in my ear. I just...I didn't expect it." Katsuki's face broke into a small smile. "You mean 'good boy'?" Izuku's eyes snapped up, and he looked away, his face burning with embarrassment. "Yeah, that." Katsuki chuckled, and Izuku's eyes flickered back to his, a mixture of confusion and wariness. "I'm sorry if I scared you, Izuku," Katsuki said, his voice low and gentle. "I didn't mean to freak you out." Izuku shook his head, his expression softening. "It's not that, Katsuki. It's just...I don't know how to react when you do things like that. It's like...my brain just freezes." Katsuki's smile widened, and he leaned back against the wall, his eyes never leaving Izuku's face. "I think I'm starting to understand." The air between them was charged with a newfound understanding, and Katsuki could see the tension in Izuku's shoulders begin to ease. "Thanks for coming over, Izuku," Katsuki said, his voice low and sincere. "I think we needed to talk about this." Izuku nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, I guess we did."
