Chapter 11: In Pursuit of Goblins
Part 11
The sounds of the tavern faded into the background as Scorch and Sir Valoric pushed open the creaky door, revealing a bright blue sky and the bustling streets of the town. With renewed energy and purpose, they made their way through the crowded streets, their destination the local Adventurer's Guild. As they walked, Scorch filled Sir Valoric in on her plan. "I've heard that the guild has a list of available quests. If we're lucky, we might find something that suits our skills." Sir Valoric nodded, his eyes scanning the surrounding buildings. "I'm sure we'll find something. The guild is always looking for brave adventurers to take on various tasks." Upon arriving at the guild, they were greeted by a cheerful receptionist who welcomed them with a warm smile. "Ah, new faces! What can I do for you today?" Scorch approached the desk, her eyes scanning the room. "We're looking for some work. Do you have any quests available?" The receptionist nodded, her fingers flying across the keyboard. "Let me check. Ah, yes! We have a few quests that might interest you. One of them is particularly urgent." She handed them a parchment with a list of available quests. Scorch scanned the list, her eyes widening as she read through the descriptions. Sir Valoric leaned in, his interest piqued. "What do you see?" Scorch pointed to a quest listed at the top of the parchment. "Goblin infestation in the nearby forest. The villagers are being terrorized by a large horde of goblins. The guild is offering a substantial reward for anyone willing to take them down." Sir Valoric's eyes lit up. "Sounds like a perfect job for us. When do we leave?" Scorch grinned mischievously. "How about now?" The receptionist smiled, handing them a map with the location of the goblin infestation marked. "Be careful out there! The goblins are not to be underestimated." With that, Scorch and Sir Valoric set off towards the nearby forest, ready to take on the goblin horde and collect their reward. As they walked, the atmosphere grew tense, the air thickening with anticipation. The forest loomed before them, its trees swaying gently in the breeze. Scorch drew her sword, its familiar weight a comfort in her hand. Sir Valoric, too, readied his gear, his expression set in determination. Together, they ventured into the unknown, their senses on high alert, ready to face whatever dangers lay ahead.
