"Descent into Darkness"
Part 4
A few days had passed since Link's condition had taken a turn for the worse, and he could feel himself spiraling out of control. The Shadow Rot disease had progressed rapidly, leaving him weak and debilitated. He was now experiencing urinary incontinence, and the shame and frustration that came with it were eating away at his already fragile mental state. As he lay on his pallet, he felt a sudden loss of bladder control, and a warm sensation spread through his undergarments. He let out a groan of despair, feeling like he was losing himself to the disease. Zelda, who had been sitting beside him, quickly jumped up to fetch the healer. The healer, a wise and kind-eyed woman named Elara, rushed into the cell, followed by two burly guards. "Link, I'm so sorry to see you're not doing well," she said, her voice soft with compassion. "We need to take care of you, and make sure you're safe." Link felt a surge of panic as Elara and the guards approached him. "What are you going to do?" he asked, his voice shaking with fear. Elara's expression was gentle, but firm. "I'm afraid we need to sedate you, Link. The disease is causing you to become... unpredictable. We can't have you harming yourself or others." Link's eyes widened in protest, but before he could argue, Elara had administered a strong sedative to his system. The guards moved to restrain him, holding him down as Elara worked quickly to attach a leather strap to his wrist. "What are you doing?" Link tried to shout, but his words were slurred and incoherent. He felt himself being pulled down onto his pallet, and then everything went dark. When he came to, he was disoriented and groggy, but he could see that he was still in his cell. The strap on his wrist was attached to a sturdy chain that was anchored to the wall, limiting his movement. Zelda was sitting beside him, her eyes filled with tears. "Link, I'm so sorry," she whispered. "The healer said this was the only way to keep you safe. You're not well, and... and we can't risk you hurting yourself or others." Link felt a wave of despair wash over him. He was trapped, chained to his pallet like a wild animal. The Shadow Rot disease had taken control of his life, and he wasn't sure if he would ever be free again.
