Confronting the Truth
Part 4
Sabrina stormed into the living room, her eyes scanning the space until she found Nick sitting on the couch, his eyes fixed on his phone. She could see the calm, collected facade, but she knew better. She had seen the way he had looked at Maya, the way he had touched her, and she knew that he had no idea what he had done. "Nick, we need to talk," Sabrina said, her voice firm and commanding. Nick looked up, a hint of surprise on his face, but he quickly recovered, a charming smile spreading across his face. "Hey, what's up?" he asked, his voice smooth and casual. Sabrina walked over to him, her eyes blazing with anger. "Don't play dumb, Nick," she said, her voice low and even. "I know what happened with Maya. I saw her, Nick. I saw the cuts on her wrists, and I know that it was because of you." Nick's smile faltered, and for a moment, he looked taken aback. "Sabrina, I...I don't know what you're talking about," he stammered. Sabrina's eyes narrowed. "Don't lie to me, Nick. I know that you were flirting with her, and I know that she was uncomfortable. And now, she's hurting herself because of it." Nick shifted uncomfortably on the couch, his eyes dropping to the floor. "Sabrina, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt her. I was just...I was just having a little fun." Sabrina's anger boiled over, and she felt her voice rising. "Fun? You call that fun? You have no idea what you've done, Nick. You've hurt Maya, and you've hurt me. I thought I knew you, but I guess I was wrong." Nick looked up, his eyes flashing with defensiveness. "Sabrina, come on. Don't be like that. I didn't mean to hurt anyone." Sabrina's eyes locked onto his, her gaze burning with intensity. "You need to apologize to her, Nick. You need to make things right. And you need to be with her, too. I want you to be with her, to support her, to help her heal." Nick's eyes widened in shock. "What are you talking about, Sabrina? I'm with you. I love you." Sabrina's voice was cold and hard. "Do you? Do you really love me, Nick? Because if you do, then you'll do what I'm asking. You'll apologize to Maya, and you'll be with her, too. Because if you don't, then I'm done with you. I'll break up with you right now, and I'll never speak to you again." Nick's face paled, and for a moment, he looked like he had been punched in the gut. He opened his mouth to speak, but Sabrina cut him off. "You have 24 hours, Nick. That's all I'm giving you. If you don't apologize to Maya and make things right, then it's over between us. And I'm not kidding, Nick. I'll do it." With that, Sabrina turned and walked away, leaving Nick sitting on the couch, his eyes fixed on her retreating back.
