"A Path of Discovery"
Part 24
Caleb's eyes locked onto Tiana's, his brow furrowed in curiosity. "What do you mean, not choosing one?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of confusion. "Do you think I should...date all of you?" He shook his head, his expression turning skeptical. "I don't think that's right at all." Tiana's smile faltered for a moment, and she looked away, her eyes drifting to the bookshelves. "No, that's not what I meant," she said, her voice softening. "I just meant that maybe you should take the time to get to know each of us better, to see where things go naturally." Caleb raised an eyebrow, his mind racing with the implications. "But that's just it - I already feel like I know each of you, in your own way. And I care about all of you, deeply. But I don't want to hurt anyone, or lead anyone on. I want to do what's right." Tiana's gaze returned to his, and she reached out, her hand brushing against his. "I think you're overthinking it, Caleb," she said, her voice gentle. "Maybe you just need to trust your instincts, and see where things go. You don't have to have all the answers right now." Caleb nodded thoughtfully, feeling a sense of uncertainty lingering. He looked at Tiana, and for a moment, he felt like he was seeing her in a new light. He realized that he had been so focused on the bigger picture, on trying to figure out which one of the girls was the right one for him, that he had forgotten to appreciate the individual moments, the individual connections he shared with each of them. As they sat there, the silence between them grew comfortable, and Caleb felt a sense of peace settle over him. He knew that he still had a long way to go, but for the first time in a while, he felt like he was on the right path. Just then, the door to the library creaked open, and Merida strode in, her bow and arrow slung over her shoulder. "Caleb, I was looking all over for you," she said, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I thought we could practice our archery skills together." Caleb smiled, feeling a sense of excitement at the prospect. "I'd love to," he said, standing up, and Tiana followed suit, a smile on her face. As they left the library together, Caleb couldn't help but wonder what the future held, and which path he would ultimately choose. But for now, he was content to take things one step at a time, and to enjoy the journey, no matter where it led.
