A Moment of Truth

Jacquie and Emily spent the next few hours browsing through the various stores at the mall, trying on clothes, and laughing together. As they walked through a particularly crowded section, Jacquie suddenly felt the urge to step away for a moment. "Hey, I'm going to go to the bathroom," she said, smiling at Emily. "I'll meet you at the food court in a few minutes." Emily nodded, distracted by a nearby sale. "Okay, sounds good. I'll grab us some coffee while I wait." Jacquie nodded and made her way through the crowds, her heart beating slightly faster with anticipation. She had been carrying a small bag with her all day, and inside it was a surprise she had been eager to share with Emily. As she entered the bathroom, Jacquie quickly retrieved the bag from her purse and pulled out a small box containing a pair of tiny baby shoes. She had bought them on a whim a few days ago, and had been waiting for the perfect moment to share them with Emily. Next to the shoes was a small folder containing the pregnancy test results. Jacquie had been hesitant to share the news with anyone, but Emily was her closest friend, and she couldn't wait to see her reaction. Taking a deep breath, Jacquie composed herself and exited the bathroom. She made her way to the food court, her heart pounding with excitement. When she spotted Emily sitting at a table with two cups of coffee, she couldn't help but smile. As she approached the table, Jacquie could see the concern etched on Emily's face. "Hey, what's wrong?" Emily asked, noticing Jacquie's expression. Jacquie took a deep breath and sat down, pulling out the box with the baby shoes. "I have something to show you," she said, her voice trembling slightly. Emily's eyes widened as she took in the tiny shoes. "Oh my god, Jacquie," she whispered. Jacquie nodded, pulling out the test results. "I'm pregnant," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. The look on Emily's face changed from surprise to shock, and then to pure joy. "Oh my god, Jacquie, congratulations!" she exclaimed, pulling Jacquie into a tight hug. As they hugged, Jacquie felt a wave of relief wash over her. She had been nervous about sharing the news with Emily, but now that it was out, she felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
