Fear and Reassurance

Part 83

We pulled back from the hug, and Deku's eyes searched mine for any signs of distress. I smiled weakly, trying to reassure him that I was okay. He nodded, still looking concerned, and took my hand in his. "Let's go find the others," he said, his voice firm and determined. We walked through the mall, Deku leading the way, until we spotted Ochaco and Mina laughing and playing a game at a nearby arcade. Kaminari and Kirishima were sitting on a nearby bench, looking worried, while Bakugo and Todoroki were standing by the food court, trying to appear nonchalant. Deku told them what had happened, and their expressions changed in an instant. Kaminari and Kirishima rushed over to me, concern etched on their faces, while Bakugo and Todoroki grumbled and muttered, trying to hide their worry. "Vesper, are you okay?" Ochaco asked, hugging me tightly. I nodded, smiling, and they all started to pepper me with questions. Deku filled them in on what had happened, and they listened with wide eyes. As we walked back to the dorms, the tension and fear of earlier began to dissipate. I felt a sense of comfort and security with my friends by my side. As soon as we got back to my room, I pulled out my phone and sent a text to Shinso. "Hey, I don't know if you remember, but it's me, Vesper, so don't think this is a random person," I typed. I hesitated for a moment before hitting send. Not even a second later, I got a response. "Hey, yea, I remember. How've you been?" Shinso asked. I smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "I've been fine. I have to train for the training camp next," I responded. "Seems like you're busy," Shinso replied. I thought for a moment before responding. "Kind of." I took a deep breath and typed out another message. "Can I tell you something?" I hesitated, wondering if I should actually share my thoughts with Shinso. But something about his calm and gentle responses put me at ease. I waited for his response, my heart beating slightly faster with anticipation.
