"Solara's Distress"
Part 4
The sudden, piercing cry echoed through the solar system, shattering the peaceful night's slumber. Mars, being one of the closest planets to Mercury, was startled awake, his eyes snapping open in alarm. Mercury's urgent call had jolted him out of his bed, and he quickly realized that something was amiss. "Mercury, what's going on?" Mars groggily asked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "It's Solara," Mercury replied, her voice trembling with worry. "I can hear her... she's not well." The other planets, scattered throughout the solar system, slowly began to stir. Earth's gentle voice whispered, "What's happening, Mercury?" as Luna, her constant companion, murmured a sleepy protest. Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune gradually sat up, groaning sleepily as they shook off the remnants of their slumber. Mars grumbled, "Why are we being awakened at this ungodly hour?" but Mercury's response was swift. "Solara's retching," Mercury said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think she's ill." The planets quickly exchanged worried glances, and without another word, they rushed to Solara's aid. As they approached her, they were met with a pitiful sight: Solara, the star that had been their home for eons, was in tears. Her massive body convulsed with sobs, and her usually radiant light flickered weakly. The planets could see that something was indeed wrong with her, and their concern grew. Uranus and Neptune swiftly took charge, using their icy powers to clean up the mess surrounding Solara. Meanwhile, Earth, Luna, and Saturn gently helped Solara clean up her face, soothing her tears away. Solara looked at the planets with a mixture of shame and gratitude. "I'm so sorry," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I didn't mean to startle you awake." The planets quickly reassured her, their voices filled with compassion. "We're here for you, Solara," Earth said. "You don't have to apologize." Jupiter, ever the calm and collected one, asked, "Solara, are you still feeling nauseous?" Solara nodded weakly. "Just a little." Jupiter nodded thoughtfully. "If you need us, just call. We'll be here." With a gentle smile, Solara slowly drifted back to sleep, her tears finally subsiding. The planets watched over her for a few moments, ensuring she was okay, before slowly making their way back to their orbits. As they settled back into their beds, they couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over them. A few minutes later, they had all fallen asleep, their dreams filled with visions of Solara's radiant light and their own peaceful slumber. The solar system was once again bathed in the soothing darkness of night, with the planets resting easy, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
