"Into the Heart of Industry"
Part 2
Korra and Mako decided to head to Future Industries to investigate, hoping to find some leads on Asami's whereabouts. As they walked, Korra's anxiety grew, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios. What if Asami had been in an accident? What if she had encountered some kind of trouble at the lab? When they arrived at Future Industries, they were greeted by a sleek, modern façade that seemed to gleam in the morning sun. Korra and Mako exchanged a determined glance, and then stepped inside. The lobby was spacious and well-appointed, with a reception desk that looked like it had been plucked straight from a high-end hotel. Behind the desk, a friendly-looking receptionist looked up as they approached. "Can I help you?" she asked, her eyes flicking between Korra and Mako. "I'm looking for someone," Korra said, trying to keep her tone calm. "Asami Sato. She was supposed to meet with some engineers here yesterday." The receptionist's expression turned sympathetic. "I'm afraid I don't have any information about Asami's whereabouts. But I can check with our staff to see if anyone has seen her." Korra nodded, her eyes locked on the receptionist as she picked up a phone and dialed a number. A moment later, she was speaking to someone on the other end of the line. "Ah, okay... thank you," she said, hanging up the phone. "One of our engineers, Dr. Zhang, was working with Asami yesterday. He said they had a meeting, but she never showed up. He thought maybe she had gotten stuck in traffic or something." Korra's unease grew. This didn't sound like Asami at all. She was always punctual, always prepared. "Can we talk to Dr. Zhang?" Korra asked, her voice firm. The receptionist nodded, picking up the phone again. "I'll let him know you're on your way. He's in lab 3B." Korra and Mako exchanged a glance, and then set off towards lab 3B, determined to get to the bottom of Asami's disappearance. As they walked, Korra's senses were on high alert, her eyes scanning the corridors for any sign of trouble. She had a feeling that something was very wrong, and she was determined to find out what.
