The Invisible Omega

Part 1

Elijah trudged through the crowded hallway of his high school, his bright blue eyes scanning the sea of faces for a glimpse of familiarity. At 15, he was used to being overlooked, and it seemed like no one ever noticed him. He was the youngest of seven siblings, and in a family of alphas and betas, Elijah's omega status made him feel like an afterthought. As he walked, Elijah's thoughts drifted to his family. His older twin sister, Emma, was the apple of everyone's eye - kind, smart, and caring. The rest of his siblings were a mix of alphas and betas, all with their own personalities and quirks. There was Lucas, the alpha who thought he was the king of the world; Rachel, the beta who was always busy with her schoolwork; and the others, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Elijah's parents were loving but often busy, leaving the older siblings to help care for the younger ones. Elijah often felt like he got lost in the shuffle. His siblings would make plans, and he'd be left behind, forgotten. His parents would ask about his day, but it was always a cursory question, never really seeking to know the answer. Elijah felt like he was invisible, a ghost hovering on the periphery of his family's life. He sighed, pushing open the door to his locker. As he switched out his books, he glanced at his phone, checking the time for what felt like the hundredth time. His siblings were supposed to meet him at the mall after school, but so far, no one had texted him. Elijah's anxiety grew as the minutes ticked by. He tried calling Lucas, but it went straight to voicemail. He sent a text, but it was ignored. Elijah felt a pang of worry; was he really that unimportant? As the final bell rang, Elijah closed his locker and headed out of the school. He made his way to the mall, his heart sinking with every passing minute. When he arrived, there was no sign of his siblings. Elijah waited, feeling anxious and scared, but as the minutes turned into hours, he realized that he was on his own. With a sigh, Elijah decided to walk home. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the city, but Elijah's heart wasn't in it. He felt forgotten, and it hurt. As he walked, Elijah's thoughts turned to his family. Why did they always forget about him? Didn't they care? He thought about Emma, who always seemed to be there for everyone else. Did she ever think about him, wonder how he was doing? Elijah's reverie was shattered by the sound of screeching tires. He tried to react, but it was too late. A car hit him, sending him flying onto the pavement. Everything went dark. In that moment, Elijah's world changed forever. Little did he know, his family's world was about to change too, and they would soon realize that the invisible omega was not as invisible as they thought.
