**Chapter 4: First Encounter**
Part 4
The dimly lit interrogation room was cold and unforgiving, the only sound the soft hum of the recording device on the table. Xander Hayes Astor, son of President Astor, leaned back in his chair, his piercing blue eyes fixed on the girl in front of him. Reine Green, or Wren, as he had come to know her, looked defiant, her bright green eyes flashing with anger. The events that had led to this moment were still unfolding in Xander's mind. He had received a report about a young girl with possible telekinetic abilities, and he had been sent to apprehend her. The girl's powers were still unknown, but Xander's father, the President, was eager to understand and control them. Wren was seventeen, according to her ID, but her attitude and sharp tongue made her seem much older. Xander was intrigued, despite himself. He had dealt with countless people like her before - rebellious, mouthy, and convinced they could take on the world. But there was something about Wren that caught his attention. "So, Reine," Xander said, his voice low and even. "Tell me about what happened back there." Wren snorted, her eyes rolling. "You mean the part where I was just minding my own business, and then suddenly I'm surrounded by agents and dragged away?" Xander raised an eyebrow. "That's the part." Wren's expression turned sarcastic. "Oh, sure. I was just out for a stroll, enjoying the sights and sounds of New Eden, when suddenly I felt...this thing inside me. Like a buzzing in my fingers. Next thing I know, those thugs are flying through the air, and everyone's staring at me like I'm some kind of freak." Xander leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. "And you have no idea what caused it?" Wren shook her head, her dark hair bobbing. "Nope. Never experienced anything like it before. Maybe I'm just a natural-born freak." Xander's gaze lingered on her face, searching for any sign of deception. But Wren's expression was genuine - a mix of fear and confusion. As he studied her, Xander couldn't help but think about his own position in New Eden. As a high-ranking officer in the elite guard and son of the President, he was used to getting what he wanted. But there was something about Wren that made him pause. Maybe it was her defiance, or maybe it was the way she looked at him like she could see right through him. The tension between them was palpable, and Xander felt a spark of curiosity ignite within him. Who was this girl, really? And what was she capable of? The sound of footsteps outside the room broke the silence. Xander's eyes flicked to the door, and he stood up, his movements economical. "I'll be back," he said, his voice low. "And next time, I expect you to be more cooperative." Wren's expression turned ugly, her eyes flashing. "You can go to hell." Xander's smile was brief, a small, wry twist of his lips. "I'm afraid that's not an option." As he left the room, Xander couldn't shake the feeling that he was just getting started with Reine Green. And he had a feeling that their next encounter would be much more...enlightening. The door closed behind him, and Wren let out a deep breath. She had no idea what she had gotten herself into, but she was determined to find out. And she was not going to go down without a fight.
