Chapter 1: The Origin of Ultra-Link
Part 1
I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my small, dingy apartment. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and got out of bed, stretching my arms and yawning. My name is Izuku Midoriya, and I'm a quirkless... well, not entirely quirkless, but that's a long story. I've always dreamed of becoming a hero, just like the ones I idolized in the Hero Course at U.A. High School. The problem was, I was born without a quirk, or so I thought. As I got dressed and ready for school, I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. I had always felt like I was destined for greatness, but without a quirk, it seemed like that dream was impossible. My mother, Inko, came into my room and gave me a gentle smile. "Good luck today, Izuku. You're going to do great, I just know it." I smiled back, trying to appear confident. We walked to school together, and as we approached the U.A. High School entrance, I could feel my heart racing with excitement. This was it, my chance to finally make a difference. As we entered the school, I was greeted by the bustling sounds of students chatting and laughing. I spotted my friends, Katsuki and Ochaco, waiting for me by the entrance. Katsuki, as always, looked like he was ready to take on the world, his confident expression a stark contrast to my own nervousness. Ochaco, on the other hand, was bubbling with excitement, her bright smile infectious. "Hey, Izuku! Good morning!" Ochaco exclaimed, waving at me. "Morning," I replied, trying to sound casual. Katsuki just grunted a greeting, but I could tell he was happy to see me. Our teacher, Aizawa-sensei, appeared, his stern expression a warning to us all to pay attention. "Alright, students. Today we're going to be discussing quirks and their various applications. I want you all to be on your best behavior and take notes." As the day went on, I couldn't help but feel like an outcast. Quirks were a part of every student's life, and I was the only one who didn't have one... or so I thought. During the quirk reveal portion of the day, students were asked to show off their quirks. Some had amazing abilities, like creating fire or manipulating metal. Others had more... unusual quirks, like being able to change the color of their hair or creating small earthquakes. When it was my turn, I hesitated. I wasn't sure if I should reveal my quirk, but something inside me urged me to take a chance. "My quirk is... Ultra-Link," I said, trying to sound confident. Aizawa-sensei raised an eyebrow. "Ultra-Link? That's an... interesting name. What does it do?" I took a deep breath and focused on my quirk. Suddenly, a small, glowing organism appeared on my chest. It looked like a tiny, metallic creature with glowing blue lines and a series of small, shimmering screens on its surface. "Whoa, that's... a living computer?" Ochaco exclaimed. The organism, which I would later learn was called Steel, began to communicate with me, its voice echoing in my mind. _Ultra-Link activated. Linking with host..._ I grinned, feeling a sense of pride. Maybe, just maybe, my quirk wasn't so bad after all. But little did I know, this was just the beginning of an incredible journey, one that would take me to heights I never thought possible. And as I looked at Steel, now linked to me, I whispered, "Let's do this." For now, I was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, with Ultra-Link by my side. But I had no idea that my life was about to change forever.
