**Chapter 7: Uninvited**

Part 7

Levi walked into Kenzy's room, not bothering to knock, expecting to find her alone. But instead, he was met with the sight of her sitting on her bed, talking on the phone. She looked up, her eyes locking onto his, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Kenzy's expression changed from one of casual conversation to one of surprise and annoyance. She held up a finger, signaling for Levi to wait, and turned her attention back to the person on the other end of the line. "I have to go," she said, her voice low and abrupt. "I'll call you back later." Levi stood frozen, unsure of what to do next. He hadn't meant to interrupt her, but he had been thinking about their conversation the night before, and he couldn't shake off the feeling that they needed to talk. Kenzy ended the call, and her eyes narrowed at Levi. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her tone cool. Levi shrugged, feeling a little awkward. "I just wanted to talk to you," he said. Kenzy sighed, and set her phone aside. "Can't it wait?" she asked. Levi shook his head. "No, it can't," he said. "I was thinking about our conversation last night, and I wanted to know what you meant when you said you could trust me with some things, but not others." Kenzy's expression turned guarded, and she leaned back against the headboard. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said. Levi raised an eyebrow. "Don't play dumb, Kenzy," he said. "I know you're not stupid. You know exactly what I'm talking about." Kenzy's eyes flashed with annoyance, but Levi could see the vulnerability beneath. He took a step closer, his voice low. "Kenzy, I want to understand you. I want to know what's going on inside that head of yours." Kenzy looked away, her jaw clenched. For a moment, Levi thought she was going to push him away, but then she took a deep breath, and her eyes met his again. "Fine," she said. "If you must know, it's just...there are things that I've been through, things that I've done. And I'm not sure if I'm ready to share them with you." Levi's heart skipped a beat. He had suspected that there was more to Kenzy's story, but he had no idea that it was this deep. He took another step closer, his voice gentle. "Kenzy, you can trust me. I promise." Kenzy's eyes searched his, and for a moment, Levi thought he saw a glimmer of hope. But then her expression hardened, and she looked away. "I don't know if I can," she said. The silence that followed was oppressive, and Levi didn't know what to say next. He just stood there, his eyes locked onto Kenzy's, hoping that she would see the sincerity in his eyes.
