**An Unexpected Connection**

Part 28

As I chatted with Shinso, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease creeping in. Why was I, a student in the hero course, talking to someone in the general course? It wasn't that I had anything against it, but it just seemed unusual. The hero course and general course students didn't often mix, and I wondered what Shinso's story was. Shinso seemed to sense my hesitation and raised an eyebrow. "So, you're kind of famous, huh?" he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. I chuckled and shrugged. "Well, kind of," I replied, trying to downplay it. Shinso's expression turned serious, and he leaned in closer. "I've heard a lot about you heroes-in-training," he said, his eyes locked onto mine. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he used his quirk, controlling my mind with an almost imperceptible gesture. As his quirk took hold, I felt a strange sense of detachment, as if I was floating above my body, watching myself from afar. Shinso's voice seemed to come from a distance, echoing in my mind. "Tell me, why are you really here?" he asked, his words piercing through the fog. My response was automatic, and I found myself saying, "I just want to be friends with you." The words felt strange, but they were the truth. Shinso's eyes widened in shock, and he stopped using his quirk. I snapped back to reality, feeling a little disoriented. I just sat there, my expression neutral. Shinso's eyes narrowed, and he asked, "You realize I used my quirk on you, right?" I met his gaze, and my response was calm. "Yeah, I know." Shinso's shock turned to surprise, and then a smirk spread across his face. He seemed to be intrigued by my nonchalance. "You're not afraid of me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. I shrugged. "I just want to be friends with you. I don't care about your quirk." Shinso's smirk grew wider, and he chuckled. We talked for a bit longer, exchanging stories and laughter. As we chatted, I found myself feeling more and more at ease around him. As we finished our lunch, I asked, "Hey, if you don't mind, can I have your number?" Shinso's eyes widened in surprise, but he smiled and said, "I don't mind at all." We exchanged phone numbers, and I felt a sense of excitement. Maybe this chance encounter would lead to something more. As we parted ways, Shinso nodded at me, and I couldn't help but feel like I had just made a new friend.
