**Chapter 6: A Proposal**
Part 6
The sun was shining brightly on the day of Lucas's big plan. He had been thinking about proposing to Dorothy for weeks, and he had finally decided on the perfect way to do it. He would take her to their favorite diner, where they had shared so many laughs and conversations, and pop the question in front of the cheesecake they both loved. As he pulled up to the diner, he could feel his heart racing with excitement. He took a deep breath, got out of the car, and walked into the diner. Dorothy was already there, sipping a cup of coffee and chatting with the waitress. Lucas smiled as he walked over to her, feeling like the luckiest man alive. "Good morning, beautiful," he said, bending down to kiss her. Dorothy smiled back at him, looking lovely in her yellow sundress. The waitress, a friendly woman named Sue, came over to take their order. Lucas asked for the usual - cheesecake and coffee - and Dorothy nodded in agreement. As they waited for their dessert to arrive, Lucas couldn't help but feel a little nervous. What if she said no? What if she wasn't ready? But as he looked into Dorothy's eyes, he knew that he had to take the chance. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box, his heart pounding in his chest. "Dorothy," he said, his voice shaking slightly. "From the moment I met you, I knew that you were someone special. You're smart, funny, and beautiful, and I love you more and more each day." Dorothy looked at him, her eyes sparkling with surprise. "Lucas, I love you too," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Lucas took a deep breath and got down on one knee, the box open in his hand. "Dorothy, will you marry me?" he asked, his voice full of emotion. The diner fell silent, with all eyes on the couple. Dorothy's eyes welled up with tears as she looked at the ring, a beautiful diamond solitaire. "Yes, yes, a million times yes!" she exclaimed, as Lucas slid the ring onto her finger. The diner erupted in cheers and applause, and Sue, the waitress, came over to congratulate them. "I'm so happy for you both!" she said, beaming. As they hugged and kissed, Dorothy couldn't help but feel like the luckiest woman alive. She had found her soulmate in Lucas, and she knew that she would love him forever. The cheesecake arrived, and Lucas and Dorothy shared a slice, basking in the joy and happiness of their engagement. It was a moment they would never forget, a moment that would change their lives forever.
