Chapter 2: A Royal Intervention
Part 2
The sudden interruption by Prince Hange seemed to calm the situation, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me. I took a deep breath, trying to collect my thoughts and explain my situation to him. "I... I'm severely autistic and blind," I stammered, my voice shaking slightly. "The seat in first class was specially designed for my needs. It's equipped with noise-cancelling headphones, a weighted blanket, and a tactile navigation system. I was told it was reserved for me, but... " Hange's expression changed, and he nodded understandingly. "I see. I had no idea. I'm afraid I booked the entire first class section for my business trip, not realizing that it was reserved for someone with special needs." The flight attendant looked mortified, and I could sense her embarrassment. "I'm so sorry, Prince Hange. We didn't realize you had booked the entire section." Hange waved his hand dismissively. "No need to apologize. I'm glad we can resolve this situation. Nick, would you be willing to move to a different seat if I were to vacate my own seat in first class?" My eyes widened in surprise. "You'd do that for me?" I asked, my voice filled with wonder. Hange smiled, his piercing eyes crinkling at the corners. "Of course, Nick. I believe that everyone deserves to travel with dignity and comfort. I'll take a seat in economy, and you can have my seat in first class." The flight attendant looked stunned, but she quickly recovered. "I'll make the necessary arrangements, Prince Hange. Thank you for your kindness." As the flight attendant made the arrangements, I felt a sense of gratitude towards Prince Hange. He was willing to give up his own seat in first class for me, a complete stranger. I couldn't believe his kindness. As we waited for the seat change, Hange turned to me and asked, "Nick, tell me more about yourself. What are you looking forward to doing in Tokyo?" I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But there was something about Hange's gentle demeanor that put me at ease. "I'm going to visit my Obaachan," I said, a smile spreading across my face. "She lives in Tokyo, and I haven't seen her in a while. I'm excited to spend time with her and experience the city." Hange's eyes lit up. "Ah, I see. Tokyo is a wonderful city. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Perhaps I can even show you around myself, if you'd like." I felt my heart skip a beat. Me, a simple boy with autism and blindness, being shown around Tokyo by a prince? It seemed like a dream come true. As the flight attendant announced that my seat was ready, Hange stood up and gestured for me to take his seat. I hesitated for a moment, feeling a sense of trepidation. But with Hange's help, I smoothly transitioned into my new seat, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. As the plane took off, I put on my noise-cancelling headphones and settled into my seat, feeling grateful for Hange's kindness. I couldn't wait to see what the future held, and perhaps, just perhaps, I would get to experience Tokyo with a royal guide by my side.
