"A Chance Encounter"
Part 10
As Harry finished his fittings and was about to leave the shop, he turned to Daphne and asked, "Would you like to join me for lunch? I feel like I've only just started getting to know you, and I'd love to continue our conversation." He smiled, hoping to convey his genuine interest in her company. Daphne's eyes sparkled with amusement, and she nodded graciously. "I'd love to, Harry. There's a lovely little café just around the corner that serves the most delicious sandwiches." As they walked to the café, Harry found himself feeling more and more at ease in Daphne's presence. He was drawn to her confident and poised demeanor, and he enjoyed the way she laughed and smiled. Once they were seated at a table, Harry decided to take a chance and ask her about the wizarding world's traditions. "Daphne, I have to admit, I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to wizarding traditions," he said, feeling a bit self-conscious. "Growing up with the Dursleys, I didn't exactly have a lot of exposure to...well, anything magical." Daphne's expression turned sympathetic. "I can imagine. The Dursleys aren't exactly known for their...enlightened views, are they?" She smiled wryly. "And as for Dumbledore, well, he's a bit of a special case. I'm sure he had his reasons for leaving you with them, but I'm sure it wasn't easy for you." Harry nodded, feeling a bit of a pang of gratitude towards Daphne. "No, it wasn't. But I'm trying to catch up now. I've heard that there are all sorts of traditions and customs in the wizarding world, and I'm eager to learn more." Daphne leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "Well, there's the Yule Ball, of course. And the Hogwarts' formal dinners. And then there are the more...esoteric traditions, like the dueling clubs and the Quidditch teams." As they talked, Harry found himself feeling more and more at ease. He was grateful to Daphne for being willing to share her knowledge with him, and he was fascinated by the stories she told. As they finished their lunch, Daphne smiled at him. "I have to say, Harry, I'm really enjoying getting to know you. You're not at all what I expected." Harry grinned, feeling a bit self-conscious. "I get that a lot," he said, laughing. "But I'm glad I could surprise you." Daphne's smile grew wider. "Yes, well, I think we're going to get along just fine, Harry Potter."
