**Chapter 1: The New Teacher**

Part 1

Brooklyn walked through the crowded hallway of her high school, her eyes scanning the sea of familiar faces. She was a junior, and at 15, she was still getting used to the drama and cliques that came with high school. As she turned a corner, she noticed a commotion near the math department. A group of girls were giggling and whispering, their eyes fixed on something behind her. Brooklyn turned to see what all the fuss was about, and her eyes widened as she took in the sight of the new math teacher, Mr. Blackwood. He was standing by the door, chatting with the department head, and he was...wow. Brooklyn had never seen anyone like him before. He was tall, with chiseled features and piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through her. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and his tailored suit made him look like a million bucks. The girls around her were going crazy, swooning over the teacher like he was some kind of celebrity. Brooklyn rolled her eyes, feeling a little embarrassed for them. I mean, come on, he's just a teacher, right? But as she looked back at Mr. Blackwood, she couldn't help but feel a tiny spark of attraction. He caught her eye and smiled, and Brooklyn quickly looked away, feeling her cheeks flush. As the day went on, Brooklyn couldn't help but notice Mr. Blackwood's effect on the school. Girls were staring at him everywhere he went, and even some of the guys were giving him admiring glances. Brooklyn's best friend, Rachel, caught up with her at lunchtime, eyes shining with excitement. "Oh my god, have you seen the new math teacher?" Rachel asked, barely containing her enthusiasm. "Yeah, I saw him this morning," Brooklyn replied, trying to play it cool. "Isn't he gorgeous?" Rachel squealed. "I swear, I've never seen anyone like him. I'm totally going to try to get in his class next semester." Brooklyn laughed. "Good luck with that. I'm sure he'll be flooded with requests." But as they talked, Brooklyn's mind kept wandering back to Mr. Blackwood. She had a crush on a guy at school, a cute but awkward boy named Jake, and she was hoping to maybe catch his eye soon. But as she glanced over at Mr. Blackwood, who was watching her with an intense gaze, she felt a shiver run down her spine. There was something about him that made her feel like he could see right through her, like he knew all her secrets. As the lunch bell rang, Brooklyn gathered her things and headed to her next class. But as she walked into math class, she felt a sense of unease. Mr. Blackwood was standing at the front of the room, watching her with an unblinking gaze. Brooklyn felt a shiver run down her spine as he smiled at her, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Welcome, Brooklyn," he said, his voice low and smooth. "I'm glad you're in my class." Brooklyn felt a flutter in her chest as she took her seat. She had a feeling that this was going to be a very interesting semester. As the class began, Brooklyn tried to focus on the lesson, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that Mr. Blackwood was watching her. She glanced around the room, noticing that the other students seemed to be under his spell as well. But as she looked back at him, she saw something in his eyes that made her feel uneasy. It was a look of possession, of ownership. And Brooklyn knew that she was in trouble.
