Chapter 1: I Want to Be a Hero
Part 1
I stared at my reflection in the small mirror that hung on the wall of my bedroom. My messy green hair was sticking up in every direction, and my bright, yet somewhat melancholic eyes looked back at me with a mix of excitement and nervousness. I had always dreamed of becoming a hero, just like the ones I saw on TV, but I knew it was a far-fetched goal. You see, I was born without a Quirk, or so I thought. As I got dressed in my plain white shirt and jeans, my mom, Inko Midoriya, called out from downstairs. "Izuku, breakfast is ready!" I rushed downstairs, my stomach growling in anticipation of her delicious cooking. My mom had a Quirk called "Engine," which allowed her to supercharge anything with her bodily fluids, but it wasn't strong enough to make a significant difference in our lives. As we ate, my mom tried to reassure me that I would find my Quirk soon. I nodded, trying to stay positive, but deep down, I knew it was unlikely. Most people developed their Quirks before the age of four, and I was already ten. I pushed the thought aside and focused on the TV, where a hero was saving the day. That's when I heard it – a strange, buzzing noise coming from my chest. I looked down to see a small, metallic organism emerging from my skin. It grew and took shape, forming a humanoid robot with glowing blue lines and a metallic body. "Whoa, what's that?!" my mom exclaimed. The robot spoke in a robotic voice, "Greetings, I am Steel, your Ultra-Link partner." My eyes widened in shock. "Ultra-Link? You mean, this is my Quirk?" Steel nodded. "Affirmative, Izuku Midoriya. Your Quirk, Ultra-Link, allows me to link with you and provide biotechnological enhancements." I stared at Steel, unsure of what to make of this. My Quirk was... different. It wasn't like the powerful Quirks I had seen before. I felt a pang of disappointment, but Steel's words sparked a glimmer of hope. As we finished breakfast, I couldn't help but feel that my life was about to change. I had a Quirk, and with Steel by my side, maybe, just maybe, I could become a hero after all. The doorbell rang, and my mom reminded me that I had to go to U.A. High School's entrance exam. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door, Steel still attached to my chest. As I walked to the exam location, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held. Would I be able to become a hero with a Quirk like Ultra-Link? Only time would tell. I took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for the challenges ahead. I was ready to face whatever came next, with Steel by my side. "Let's do this," I said, determination in my voice. Steel responded, "Affirmative, Izuku. We are ready." Little did I know, this was just the beginning of my journey to become a hero.
