"A Royal Proposal"
Part 4
Kenzy's eyes flashed with anger as she turned to the King, her face reddening with indignation. "Excuse me, Your Majesty?" she said, her voice tight with displeasure. Her gaze was piercing, as if daring the King to explain himself. The King's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered, his expression smoothing out. "I merely thought it would be a good match, Kenzy," he said, his voice calm and reasonable. But Kenzy was not placated. She looked down at the ground, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. Her eyes dropped to the floor, and she mumbled, "I wasn't asked, either..." Her voice was barely audible, but it was clear that she was embarrassed and annoyed by the King's suggestion. Levi's eyes widened in surprise as he watched the exchange. He had expected Kenzy to be surprised or even pleased by the King's proposal, but instead, she seemed angry and embarrassed. He felt a pang of guilt and uncertainty, unsure of how to respond to the situation. The King, however, seemed undeterred by Kenzy's reaction. He leaned back in his throne, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I think it would be beneficial for both of you," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "You, Captain Levi, are a skilled and capable soldier. And Kenzy, here, has...other talents that would be wasted if not utilized properly." Kenzy's face grew even redder, and she looked up at the King, her eyes flashing with anger. But then, she seemed to think better of it, and her gaze dropped to the ground again. Levi could see the embarrassment and frustration written all over her face. Erwin, who had been watching the exchange with interest, spoke up. "Your Majesty, if I may ask," he said, his voice polite. "What exactly do you hope to achieve with this proposal?" The King's smile grew wider, and he leaned forward, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, merely to strengthen the ties between our military leaders," he said, his voice casual. "A strong and stable military is essential for the prosperity of our nation. And what better way to ensure that than through a strategic marriage?" Levi felt a surge of unease at the King's words. He had a feeling that he was being manipulated, that the King had ulterior motives for suggesting this marriage. And Kenzy's reaction had only added to his uncertainty. He glanced at her, and saw that she was still looking at the ground, her face flushed with embarrassment. The room fell silent again, with all eyes on the King, Levi, and Kenzy. It was clear that the King's proposal had set off a chain reaction, one that would have far-reaching consequences for all involved.
