**Chapter 10: A New Reality**

Part 10

As Charlie lay in the hospital bed, she couldn't shake off the feeling of being in a daze. The news of her pregnancy had left her reeling, and she was still trying to wrap her head around it. She thought about all the times she and Jon had been careless, not thinking about protection. It was a miracle that she had gotten pregnant, and now she had to face the reality of being a mother. The doctor had given her some time to process the news, and now it was time to call Jon. She picked up her phone and dialed his number, her heart racing with excitement and nervousness. Jon answered on the first ring, and Charlie could hear the concern in his voice. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, and Charlie took a deep breath before delivering the news. "I'm pregnant," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. There was a pause on the other end of the line, and Charlie wondered if Jon had heard her correctly. But then he spoke up, his voice filled with excitement. "Pregnant?" he repeated, and Charlie could hear the smile in his voice. "As in, we're having a baby?" Charlie laughed, feeling a mix of emotions. "Yes, we're having a baby," she said, and Jon let out a whoop of excitement. "I knew it," he said, chuckling. "I knew we were meant to be together." Charlie smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She had been worried about how Jon would react, but it seemed that he was on board with the idea of being a father. "We need to talk," Jon said, his voice more serious now. "Can I come to the hospital?" Charlie nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "Yeah, that would be great," she said. Twenty minutes later, Jon walked into the hospital room, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. Charlie's heart swelled with love as she looked at him, and she knew that she had made the right decision in telling him about the pregnancy. "I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner," Charlie said, as Jon sat down beside her. Jon put down the flowers and took her hand. "Don't apologize," he said. "This is amazing news. We're going to be parents, Charlie." Charlie smiled, feeling a sense of joy that she had never felt before. She knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, and she was excited to see what the future held. As they talked about the pregnancy, Charlie realized that she had a lot to learn. She had always thought about being a mother, but she had never thought about it in reality. Jon seemed to sense her concerns, and he took her hand again. "We'll figure it out together," he said. "We'll be great parents, Charlie. I promise." Charlie smiled, feeling a sense of reassurance. She knew that with Jon by her side, she could face anything that came their way. The doctor came in to check on Charlie, and he was happy to see that she was doing well. He gave her some instructions on what to expect in the coming weeks, and Charlie listened intently. As the doctor left, Jon turned to Charlie and said, "You know, I think we should start thinking about names." Charlie laughed. "Names?" she repeated. "We're not even at the six-week mark yet." Jon grinned. "I know, but it's fun to think about. What do you think about Emily or Jackson?" Charlie smiled, feeling a sense of excitement. "I like them," she said. "But let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have a lot to learn and a lot to do before the baby arrives." Jon nodded, but Charlie could see the excitement in his eyes. He was already thinking about being a father, and she was happy to see him so enthusiastic. As they waited for the hospital to discharge Charlie, Jon took her hand and pulled her close. "I'm so happy," he said, his voice filled with emotion. Charlie smiled, feeling her heart swell with love. "Me too," she said. "I love you, Jon." Jon smiled back, his eyes shining with happiness. "I love you too, Charlie."
