The Agony of Reanimation
Part 3
Stevie and Rhett worked together to adjust Link's restraints, trying to find a way to make him more comfortable. But as they worked, Link's wails grew louder and more pitiful, a high-pitched sound that sent shivers down Stevie's spine. She winced, feeling a pang of guilt for the zombie's distress. "I'm sorry, Link," she said, trying to sound soothing. "We're trying to help." Rhett nodded, his eyes fixed on Link's struggling form. "We just need to find the right balance," he said. But as they continued to adjust the restraints, Link's wails only grew louder. Stevie felt a surge of frustration and concern. They were trying to help, but it seemed like they were making things worse. She turned to her computer, clicking on a tab to open a new window. She had bookmarked an article on Sambi care, hoping to find some guidance on how to care for their reanimated friend. As she scrolled through the article, one passage caught her eye. "Complete immobilization can cause the Sambi's body to stiffen, leading to increased pain and discomfort," she read aloud. Rhett looked up, his eyes questioning. "What does that mean?" he asked. Stevie's eyes scanned the article, searching for more information. "It means that we need to give Link some freedom of movement," she said. "We can't just keep him completely immobilized." Rhett nodded, his face thoughtful. "But what if he tries to escape?" he asked. Stevie hesitated, unsure of the answer. But as she looked at Link, she knew that they had to try. They couldn't just leave him like this, wailing in agony. "We need to find a way to balance his safety with his comfort," she said finally. "Let's try to give him a little more freedom." Rhett nodded, and together they began to adjust the restraints once more. This time, they worked to give Link a bit more movement, while still keeping him secure. As they worked, Link's wails slowly began to subside, replaced by a series of labored groans. Stevie and Rhett exchanged a hopeful glance, wondering if they were on the right track. But as they finished up, Stevie couldn't shake the feeling that they were just beginning to understand the challenges of caring for a reanimated Sambi. And she couldn't help but wonder what other surprises lay ahead.
