"Unraveling Threads"

Part 57

A few days passed, and Kageyama's mysterious ability to control objects without touching them suddenly stopped, leaving the team wondering if they had just imagined the whole thing. The practices went back to normal, with Kageyama resuming his usual role as the team's setter, but Oikawa couldn't shake off the feeling that something was still off. As the days went by, Oikawa noticed that Kageyama's behavior was becoming increasingly erratic. He would zone out during meetings, his eyes taking on a distant, unfocused look. He would mumble to himself, and sometimes, he would just sit there, staring blankly into space. It was as if he was struggling to keep his grip on reality. One day, during a team lunch, Kageyama suddenly started talking about the intricacies of string theory, going on a lengthy and incoherent rant about the interconnectedness of all things. His teammates exchanged worried glances, unsure of how to respond. "Kageyama, what are you talking about?" Oikawa asked, trying to steer the conversation back to normal. Kageyama looked at him, his eyes wild and unfocused. "I'm talking about the threads that connect us all. The invisible strings that bind us together. Don't you see it, Oikawa? Don't you feel it?" Oikawa frowned, feeling a growing sense of concern. "Kageyama, I think you might be overthinking things. Let's just focus on the volleyball for now, okay?" But Kageyama just shook his head, his expression becoming increasingly agitated. "You don't understand, Oikawa. You don't see the threads. But I do. I see them everywhere." As the days went by, Kageyama's behavior continued to deteriorate. He would wander off during practices, lost in thought, and his teammates would find him staring at some random object, his eyes fixed on it with an unnerving intensity. Hinata approached Oikawa one day, looking worried. "Oikawa, I don't know what's going on with Kageyama, but I think we need to do something. He's scaring me." Oikawa nodded, feeling a sense of unease. "I know what you mean. I'll try to talk to him, see if I can get him to snap out of it." But as he approached Kageyama, who was sitting alone on the sidelines, staring at a volleyball with an unnerving intensity, Oikawa couldn't help but wonder if he was already too late.
