The Portal's Shadow

Part 8

As the days passed, Tony's powers continued to grow stronger, and he began to sense that something was off. He could feel a dark presence lurking in the shadows, watching him, waiting for him to make a move. At first, he dismissed it as mere paranoia, but as the feeling persisted, he knew that he had to take it seriously. One evening, as he was walking home from school, Tony caught a glimpse of a ghostly figure out of the corner of his eye. He spun around, but there was no one there. The sensation, however, lingered, and he quickened his pace, his heart pounding in his chest. As he entered his house, he noticed that his parents were watching TV, their faces tense with concern. "Hey, kiddo, how was your day?" his mom asked, trying to sound casual. Tony hesitated, unsure if he should share his experience with them. "It was fine," he replied, trying to brush it off. But his parents exchanged a knowing glance, and his dad spoke up. "Tony, we've been noticing that you've been acting strange lately. Is everything okay?" Tony took a deep breath and told them about the ghostly figure and the dark presence he had been sensing. His parents listened intently, their expressions growing more serious with each passing moment. "We think it's connected to the portal," his mom said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Your biological family was experimenting with it, and it's possible that they opened a doorway to the Ghost Realm." Tony's eyes widened as he made the connection. "And now, something's coming through?" His dad nodded. "We don't know what it is or what it wants, but we need to be careful. We can't let it hurt anyone." As they discussed their plan of action, Tony couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. He glanced around the room, but there was no one there. Or so he thought. Suddenly, the lights flickered, and the air grew colder. Tony's parents exchanged a worried glance, and his mom spoke up. "Tony, we need to get you to a safe place. Now." As they quickly gathered their belongings, Tony caught a glimpse of a ghostly figure hovering near the window. Its eyes glowed with an otherworldly energy, and Tony knew that they were in grave danger. The figure began to move closer, its presence filling the room with an eerie, unsettling energy. Tony's parents grabbed him, and they made a run for the door, but as they reached the entrance, the ghostly figure blocked their path. "We need to get out of here," his dad shouted, his voice firm. But Tony stood frozen, his eyes locked on the ghostly figure. He could sense its malevolent energy, and he knew that he had to confront it. With a surge of adrenaline, Tony raised his hands, and a blast of ghostly energy shot out, sending the figure flying across the room. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as the figure struggled to get back to its feet. Tony's parents stared at him in shock, their faces pale. "Tony, what just happened?" his mom asked, her voice trembling. Tony took a deep breath, his heart still racing. "I think I'm starting to understand my powers," he said, his voice firm. But as they turned to leave, Tony caught a glimpse of something that made his blood run cold. The ghostly figure was getting back up, its eyes fixed on him with an unspeakable hunger. And Tony knew that he was in for the fight of his life.
