"Cravings and Consequences"

Part 15

The middle of the night had turned into an unexpected snack fest for Maya and Sean. It had started with Maya waking up to a sudden craving for pickles and ice cream, a combination that Sean had never thought he'd be eating at 2 am, but here he was, rummaging through the fridge for a jar of pickles and a pint of ice cream. As they sat on the couch, munching away, Maya suddenly had another craving. "Sean, I need some chips," she said, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Sean sighed and got up, heading to the kitchen to grab a bag of chips. As he handed them to Maya, she started munching on them and suddenly said, "You know what would be great right now? A grilled cheese sandwich." Sean raised an eyebrow. "A grilled cheese sandwich? At 2:30 am?" Maya nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, please." Sean couldn't resist her pleading eyes, so he headed back to the kitchen to make a grilled cheese sandwich. As he handed it to Maya, she took a bite and closed her eyes in rapture. "This is so good," she said, her voice muffled by the sandwich. Sean sat down beside her, laughing. "You're going to turn into a giant pickle or something," he said, shaking his head. Maya smiled, her mouth still full. "I'm just feeding the baby," she said, winking at Sean. As they sat there, snacking away, Sean couldn't help but think about how much Maya's cravings had changed. Before, she had always been a health nut, eating salads and fruits and vegetables. But now, it seemed like she was craving all the junk food she could get her hands on. "Do you think it's the baby's fault?" Sean asked, teasingly. Maya looked at him, her eyes sparkling. "I think it's definitely the baby's fault," she said, smiling. "I think the baby is trying to drive me crazy with these cravings." Sean chuckled. "Well, if that's the case, then I think the baby is doing a great job," he said, smiling. Maya laughed, and they sat there, munching away on their snacks, enjoying the quiet of the night. As they finished up their snacks, Maya leaned over and kissed Sean. "Thanks for being such a great sport about all my cravings," she said, smiling. Sean smiled back. "Anytime," he said. "I'll do whatever it takes to make you happy." And as they settled back onto the couch, Maya's hand instinctively went to her belly, where the baby was apparently still demanding snacks.
