Consumed by Desire

Part 15

Jaekyung's restless pacing finally came to an end as he stopped in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the city. The lights of the skyscrapers twinkled like stars, a reminder of the world outside his own turbulent thoughts. He took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind, but his gaze drifted back to the darkness within. The image of Michelle's smile lingered, haunting him like a ghost. He turned away from the window and walked over to the bar, pouring himself a glass of scotch. The amber liquid glowed in the dim light of the room, a siren's call to calm his frazzled nerves. Jaekyung raised the glass to his lips, letting the smooth flavor wash over him, but his mind remained fixated on Michelle. As he stood there, lost in thought, his phone buzzed on the coffee table. Jaekyung's heart skipped a beat as he saw Michelle's name flashing on the screen. He felt a rush of excitement, his pulse racing with anticipation. He hesitated for a moment, his thumb hovering over the answer button. What if she was calling to talk about something mundane? What if she wasn't thinking about him at all? The uncertainty was almost too much to bear. Jaekyung's breath caught in his throat as he finally answered the call. "Hey," he said, trying to sound casual despite the turmoil brewing inside him. "Hey," Michelle's sultry voice replied, sending shivers down Jaekyung's spine. "I was just thinking about you." Jaekyung's eyes closed, and he let out a slow breath. It was as if the universe had conspired to grant him a reprieve. "I was thinking about you too," he admitted, his voice low and husky. The line went silent for a moment, and Jaekyung wondered if he had overstepped. But then Michelle spoke up, her voice barely above a whisper. "I miss you, Jaekyung." The words hit Jaekyung like a tidal wave, sweeping him up in a sea of emotions. He felt his resolve crumble, his defenses weakening in the face of her vulnerability. "I miss you too," he replied, his voice cracking with emotion. The silence that followed was oppressive, heavy with unspoken desire. Jaekyung knew that he had to tread carefully, that one misstep could ruin everything. But he couldn't help himself. He was drawn to Michelle like a moth to a flame, and he knew that he had to take the risk. "Michelle," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I need to see you." The line went silent again, and Jaekyung's heart sank. Had he pushed too hard? Had he scared her off? But then, in a voice that sent shivers down his spine, Michelle replied, "I need to see you too."
