**Chapter 12: Explaining the Situation**

Part 12

As the group gathered in the living room, Stan began to explain the situation to Rose, Blanche, and Sophia. "I was just walking into the kitchen when I heard Lucas and Dorothy arguing," he said, his voice calm and collected. "I could tell things were escalating, so I stepped in and told Lucas to leave." Rose's eyes widened in concern. "Oh, Stan, what did he say to Dorothy?" She walked over to Dorothy, her face filled with empathy. Stan's expression turned stern. "He was just being his usual self, making snide comments and trying to get under her skin. But I wasn't about to let him get away with it." Blanche raised an eyebrow. "I'm sure you weren't," she said, a hint of amusement in her voice. "You're not exactly known for backing down from a challenge, Stan." Stan chuckled. "I guess not. Anyway, I told Lucas to leave and he backed down, but not before I made it clear that I wouldn't tolerate any more of his behavior around Dorothy." Sophia snorted. "Good for you, Stan. That Lucas is a piece of work. I'm surprised he didn't try to push his luck." Dorothy shook her head, a wry smile on her face. "He's just bitter about our divorce, that's all. He can't seem to accept that I'm happy without him." Rose's face scrunched up in distaste. "I don't get why he's so mean, Dorothy. You're so much better off without him." Dorothy nodded in agreement. "I know, dear. And I have all of you to thank for being here for me. It means a lot." The group fell silent for a moment, the only sound the ticking of the clock on the wall. Then, Blanche spoke up. "We're always here for you, Dorothy. That's what friends are for." She smiled, her eyes warm with affection. Stan nodded in agreement. "And I'm here for you too, Dorothy. You're not alone in this." Dorothy smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Stan and her friends. She knew that she could count on them to support her, no matter what. As they sat there in comfortable silence, Sophia suddenly spoke up. "You know, I think we should keep an eye on Lucas. He might try something else." Stan nodded. "I'm keeping an eye on him, Sophia. Don't worry, I'll make sure he's not a problem." The group nodded in agreement, a sense of determination settling over them. They would support Dorothy and make sure she was safe, no matter what. As they chatted and laughed together, Dorothy felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that she was lucky to have such wonderful friends in her life. The conversation continued, with the group discussing everything from Lucas's behavior to their plans for the rest of the week. But beneath it all, there was a sense of unease, a sense that Lucas was still out there, waiting for his chance to strike. Stan's eyes never left Dorothy's face, his expression watchful and protective. He knew that Lucas was still a threat, and he was determined to do everything in his power to keep Dorothy safe. As the afternoon wore on, the group began to disperse, each of them heading off to their own activities. But they all knew that they would be back together again soon, ready to face whatever challenges came their way. And as they said their goodbyes, Dorothy felt a sense of gratitude towards Stan and her friends. She knew that she was lucky to have them in her life, and she was grateful for their love and support.
