A New Dynamic
Part 3
The days turned into weeks, and Eric tried to push the incident at his desk out of his mind, but he couldn't shake the feeling that things had changed between him and Maya. He had seen her a few times in the hallways, exchanging pleasantries, but it wasn't the same as being in her AP English class. As he walked to his locker, he ran into her again, this time with a warm smile. "Eric, I was thinking," she said, her eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief. "You seem like a bright student, but I've noticed you've been struggling a bit with the reading comprehension section of the SAT. Would you like some extra help?" Eric's heart skipped a beat as he processed her offer. He had been worried about his SAT scores, and having Maya as his tutor would be a dream come true. But he also knew that spending more time with her would make it harder to ignore the feelings he had developed. "I'd love to," he said, trying to sound casual despite the excitement building inside him. Maya pulled out her phone and opened the calendar app. "How about we meet up at the library on Saturday at 2 pm? We can go over some practice tests and work on your weaknesses." Eric nodded, trying to play it cool. "Sounds great. I'll make sure to bring my materials." As they exchanged numbers and made plans, Eric couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. He had a feeling that this was more than just a tutoring session, that this was an opportunity to get to know Maya better. The rest of the week flew by, and before he knew it, Saturday had arrived. Eric walked to the library, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. When he arrived, Maya was already there, sitting at a table with a stack of books and papers. "Hey," she said, smiling as he approached. "Let's get started, shall we?" As they began to go over the practice tests, Eric found himself relaxing in Maya's presence. She was easy to talk to, and her teaching style was engaging and supportive. But despite the academic focus of their session, Eric couldn't help but steal glances at Maya, noticing the way her hair fell in loose waves down her back, or the way her eyes crinkled at the corners when she smiled. As the hours passed, Eric found himself feeling more and more at ease with Maya. He began to see her in a different light, not just as his teacher, but as a person, with her own interests and passions. And as they packed up to leave, Maya turned to him with a warm smile. "You're a natural, Eric," she said. "I think you're going to do great on the test. Keep up the good work." Eric smiled back, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her. "Thanks, Maya. I really appreciate your help." As they walked out of the library, Eric couldn't help but wonder if this was the start of something new, something that would change the dynamic between him and Maya forever.
