"Darkness Descends"
Part 19
The team decided to give Kageyama some space, respecting his need for alone time as he struggled to come to terms with his emotions. They knew that he was on the verge of a breakthrough, and they didn't want to push him further. As they quietly filed out of the room, Oikawa made sure to assign someone to keep an eye on Kageyama from afar, just in case. Twenty minutes felt like an eternity as the team waited anxiously for Kageyama to process his emotions. They had discussed various ways to support him, from counseling to simply being present, but in the end, they decided to let him be. It wasn't until Hinata suggested they check on him that they realized something was terribly wrong. The room was eerily quiet as they entered, and Kageyama was slumped on the floor, his back against the wall. At first, they thought he was just resting, but as they drew closer, they noticed the empty bottle of Prozac on the floor next to him. Their hearts sank as they rushed to his side. "Kageyama, no!" Daichi exclaimed, his voice laced with panic as he shook Kageyama's shoulders. "What have you done?" Kageyama's eyes fluttered open, unfocused and glassy. He tried to speak, but his words were slurred and barely intelligible. The team quickly sprang into action, with Oikawa calling for an ambulance and Hinata trying to keep Kageyama's head elevated. As they waited for help to arrive, the team's faces were etched with worry and fear. They had been so close to helping Kageyama, and yet, in a matter of minutes, everything had taken a drastic turn for the worse. "This can't be happening," Oikawa muttered, his eyes fixed on Kageyama's pale face. "We were just talking to him, and he seemed...he seemed okay." The team's guilt and regret were palpable as they watched Kageyama's condition worsen by the minute. They had given him space, but in doing so, they might have inadvertently pushed him further over the edge. As the ambulance sirens grew louder, the team's anxiety reached a boiling point. They had to act fast to save Kageyama's life, but as they looked at each other, they couldn't help but wonder: what could have gone wrong in that short period of time?
