Still, I'm- I'm really happy you got it, he smiles, and he's sincere. He is. The feeling of belonging hits you harder than ever before. That small, quirkless child, whose only dream has just been crushed, whose life has been ruined, whose friends have abandoned him- and who surely hoped, at night, in the most selfish part of him, that you would be like him too. Who surely hoped for you to be someone he could share his pain with, who could understand him. Who surely hoped to be in your place right now, giddy and curious after having discovered his own quirk. And yet when he says he's happy for you, he is. You would die for him, in that moment. You would give your life for Midoriya Izuku. What you don't know, is that he would do the same for you. "Thank you, Izuku," you whisper. Neither of you comments on your change of names. You won't call him Midoriya-san again for all the years to come.
