"A Newfound Understanding"
Part 4
Nadine walked out of the room, leaving Darian and Maya frozen in uncertainty. They exchanged a nervous glance, both of them worried about how Nadine would react to the situation. But as they waited, they heard Nadine's voice coming from the living room, her tone surprisingly light. "Hey guys, can I get that charger now?" she called out. Darian and Maya exchanged a stunned glance. This wasn't the reaction they had expected. Maya slowly got out of bed, her hair still disheveled, and made her way to the living room. Darian followed closely behind, a sheet still wrapped around his waist. As they entered the living room, they found Nadine sitting on the couch, scrolling through her phone. She looked up and smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "So, I have to ask, how long has this been going on?" she asked, nodding towards Darian and Maya. Maya felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her, but Nadine's warm smile put her at ease. "We... um... we've been spending a lot of time together," Maya stammered. Nadine chuckled. "I gathered that. But I have to say, I'm relieved." Darian raised an eyebrow. "Relieved?" Nadine nodded. "Yeah, I'm glad it's you, Maya. I mean, no offense to you, but I'm just glad it's not Krista." Maya's eyes widened in surprise. "Krista?" Nadine shuddered. "Ugh, don't even get me started. She's just so... dramatic. And clingy. I don't think you two would have been a good match, Darian." Darian chuckled, a look of amusement on his face. "I think you might be right, Nadine." Nadine grinned. "I know I'm right. So, I'm glad you two found each other. You seem happy, and that's all that matters to me." Maya felt a wave of gratitude towards Nadine. She had expected anger and resentment, but instead, Nadine was being super supportive. "Thanks, Nadine," Maya said, her voice filled with emotion. "That means a lot to us." Nadine smiled and stood up, walking over to Maya and giving her a hug. "I'm always here for you guys, no matter what. Now, about that charger..." Darian and Maya laughed, feeling a sense of relief wash over them. They knew they still had a lot to figure out, but with Nadine's support, they felt like they could face anything.
