Bloodlines and Betrayals
Part 16
As the games progressed, Myung-gi's attention was fixated on the platform where the players were attempting to cross the bridge. The animatronic dolls swung the rope with increasing speed, making it a daunting task for the players to reach the other side. Myung-gi's anxiety grew as he watched his friends struggle to decide who should attempt the game first. The VIPs, seated in their luxurious viewing area, grew restless, their voices filled with boredom and anticipation. Just as Myung-gi was about to look away, his eyes landed on a shocking sight. Gihun, player 456, was holding a baby on the platform. Myung-gi's eyes widened in horror as he turned to Inho and whispered, "Why is the baby being forced to play?" Inho's expression remained calm, but his eyes seemed to bore into Myung-gi's as he replied, "I can have her transported with us if you'd like." Myung-gi's mind reeled as he thought about his daughter being forced to participate in the games. He didn't want to take her away from his ex, JunHee, but at the same time, he couldn't bear the thought of her being in harm's way. He gently nodded his head, and Inho's hand moved from Myung-gi's shoulder to his hair, gently playing with it. As the game continued, Myung-gi's attention was torn between the players on the bridge and his own concerns about his daughter. The VIPs were on the edge of their seats, cheering and jeering as the players struggled to cross. Myung-gi's heart sank as he watched JunHee, player 222, make her way onto the bridge. She was pregnant, and the thought of her being in danger made Myung-gi's anxiety spike. But it was too late. JunHee lost her footing, and her body crashed to the ground. The VIPs erupted into cheers, and Myung-gi felt a pang of sadness. He had cared for JunHee once, but now his only concern was his daughter. The VIPs continued to discuss the game, their voices filled with excitement and anticipation. But their conversation took a dark turn as they began to talk about killing the baby. Myung-gi's anger flared, and he was about to yell or attack, but Inho's firm voice stopped him. "Don't," he whispered. The fox-masked lady turned to Inho and Myung-gi, her voice filled with curiosity. "What are you going to do with the baby? Are you going to make it play in its mother's place?" Inho's response was calm and firm. "The baby will be promptly removed from the games." The drunk lion-masked VIP slurred, "But that's not fair. The baby crossed the winning line. Shouldn't it win, or maybe it should die as an extension of its mother?" Inho's expression remained calm as he replied, "I'd hate to disappoint, but the baby will be taken out of the games, and not eliminated." The VIPs pressed for more information, and Inho's expression turned serious. "Me and my lover will be raising the baby, since he is in fact the father of the baby." The VIPs gasped, and the fox-masked lady chuckled. "Oh, my. How juicy this drama is." Myung-gi's heart skipped a beat as he processed Inho's words. He was going to be a father to his daughter, and Inho was going to be by his side. But at what cost? The games were far from over, and Myung-gi's survival was far from guaranteed.
