"The Sleepover Plan"

Part 8

The next morning, Jay changed back into his now clean clothes, looking refreshed and rejuvenated. Judd helped him sneak downstairs, making sure to keep a low profile as they made their way to the living room. Judd snuck back upstairs, trying not to draw attention to himself, while Jay hid behind the couch, waiting for the perfect moment to make his appearance. Judd then snuck back downstairs and made his way to the kitchen, trying to blend in with the rest of the family. It was currently 2:30, and everyone was home since school and work had ended. Nick was sitting on the couch with his friend Andrew, laughing and chatting about something. Leah was in her room, on the phone, giggling with her friends. Their parents were in the kitchen, doing who-knows-what. Just as Judd was about to grab a snack, there was a knock on the door. His parents asked Nick to get it, which worked out perfectly for Judd's plan. Nick got up from the couch, curious about who could be visiting at this time. Nick opened the door to reveal Jay standing there, looking a bit nervous but excited. "Jay, I haven’t seen you in a while! Where were you?" Nick exclaimed. Jay ignored the question, not wanting to get caught in a lie. Instead, he happily exclaimed, "We should have a sleepover!" Nick's eyes lit up with excitement. "That sounds like a great idea! Andrew's here too, so we can make it a slumber party!" Jay nodded enthusiastically, and Nick stepped aside to let him in. As Jay walked inside, he greeted Judd's parents, as well as Judd and Andrew, with a warm smile. Judd's parents returned the greeting, welcoming Jay into their home. Andrew nodded in his direction, and Judd smiled back at him, trying to appear nonchalant. However, Nick noticed Judd's smile and felt a pang of confusion. Judd was known for ignoring people and avoiding human interactions that didn't cause chaos in general. So, why was he smiling at Andrew, his friend? Nick thought it was weird but tried to ignore it, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. As everyone began to chat and catch up, Judd's parents offered to make some snacks and drinks for the sleepover. Leah walked out of her room, curious about the commotion, and joined in on the conversation. The atmosphere was lively and fun, with everyone excited about the sleepover. But amidst all the excitement, Nick couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. He glanced at Judd, who was trying to blend in with the group, but his eyes kept drifting back to Jay. Nick wondered if there was more to Jay's sudden appearance than met the eye.
