Chapter 1: A Wish Come True

Part 1

Lilly sat on her bed, eyes glued to the TV as she watched her favorite show, Grey's Anatomy. She had seen every episode at least five times, and still couldn't get enough of Dr. Meredith Grey's wit, intelligence, and sass. As she watched, Lilly found herself wishing, not for the first time, that Dr. Grey were real. "Come on, Meredith, you're so smart and amazing," Lilly whispered to the TV. "I wish you were real." As she spoke the words, the room around her began to flicker and the TV screen started to distort. Lilly's eyes widened in shock as the image of Dr. Grey began to step out of the TV and into her bedroom. "Whoa, what the...?" Lilly trailed off, her eyes fixed on the woman she had just been watching on TV. Dr. Grey looked around, taking in her surroundings. "Where...where am I?" she asked, her voice disoriented. Lilly found her voice. "You're...you're in my bedroom!" Dr. Grey turned to face her, a look of confusion still on her face. "Your bedroom? How did I...?" Lilly shook her head. "I don't know! I was just watching your show and I wished you were real, and then...then you came out of the TV!" Dr. Grey raised an eyebrow. "Fascinating. I've never heard of such a thing happening before." Lilly couldn't believe she was actually talking to Dr. Grey. "You're...you're Dr. Meredith Grey," she stammered. Dr. Grey nodded. "The one and only. And you are...?" "I'm Lilly," she replied, still in shock. Dr. Grey smiled. "Well, Lilly, it's nice to meet you. Although I have to say, I'm a bit disoriented. Can you tell me what year it is?" Lilly laughed. "It's 2023." Dr. Grey's eyes widened. "2023? That's...that's impossible. I was just...I was just in the middle of a surgery..." Lilly nodded sympathetically. "I know it's a lot to take in. But you're here now, and I'm glad." Dr. Grey looked at Lilly, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Then, Dr. Grey's expression softened, and she smiled. "I'm glad too, Lilly," she said. "I have to say, I'm intrigued by this...this situation. And I have to admit, I'm a bit curious about you." Lilly grinned. "I'm curious about you too. I've always admired you, Dr. Grey. You're my hero." Dr. Grey chuckled. "Well, I'm not sure I'm a hero, but I do try my best. So, tell me, Lilly, what's your story?" Lilly shrugged. "I'm just a high school student. I love your show, and I guess I wished you were real." Dr. Grey nodded. "And now I am. Well, I suppose we have a lot to catch up on. Do you mind if I sit down?" Lilly shook her head, and Dr. Grey sat down on the bed beside her. "So, Lilly," Dr. Grey said, "tell me about yourself. What do you like to do for fun?" Lilly smiled. "I like to watch TV, read, and hang out with my friends. But I have to say, I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic. I love the way you and your friends are always there for each other on the show." Dr. Grey smiled back. "Ah, yes. The people-pleasing, the drama, the romance... Grey's Anatomy is all about the complexities of human relationships. But I think that's what makes it so compelling, don't you?" Lilly nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, I do. I love how you all support each other, even when things get tough." Dr. Grey nodded. "That's what family is all about, Lilly. And I have to say, I'm feeling a bit like a surrogate mother to you right now." Lilly's eyes lit up. "Really?" Dr. Grey smiled. "Yes, really. I mean, I'm not sure how I got here or how long I'll be here, but while I'm here, I want to get to know you better. And maybe, just maybe, I can offer you some advice and guidance along the way." Lilly grinned, feeling a sense of excitement and wonder. "That would be amazing, Dr. Grey." Dr. Grey smiled back. "Please, call me Meredith. We're going to be friends, Lilly. And who knows, maybe even sisters." Lilly's heart swelled with emotion as she looked at Dr. Grey. She had never felt such a strong connection with anyone before. "I'm glad," Lilly said, her voice barely above a whisper. Meredith put a hand on Lilly's shoulder. "Me too, kiddo. Me too."
