**The Devil's Proposal**
Part 275
"What do you have in mind?" I asked, trying not to tick off both Dabi and Shigaraki as I leaned back in my chair, attempting to appear nonchalant despite the growing unease in my stomach. Shigaraki's grin returned, and he leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together once more. "Ah, Vesper-chan, we're glad you're interested," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You see, we have a bit of a situation on our hands. A certain... asset has gone missing, and we believe you might be able to help us retrieve it." I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. "What kind of asset?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral. Dabi leaned forward, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Let's just say it's something that could give us a bit of an edge in our... dealings with the Hero Society," he said, his voice low and smooth. I frowned, trying to piece together what they were talking about. "And what makes you think I can help you?" I asked, trying to keep my skepticism in check. Shigaraki chuckled, a low, menacing sound. "Oh, Vesper-chan, we know all about your little exploits on the streets," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement. "We know about your Quirks, and we know about your... creativity when it comes to using them. And we think you might be just the person we need to help us retrieve our missing asset." I felt a surge of unease at the thought of what they might be planning. "And what's in it for me?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral. Shigaraki leaned forward, his eyes locked on mine. "Oh, we think we can offer you something that's well worth your while, Vesper-chan," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Something that will make it well worth your while to help us out." I swallowed hard, trying to keep my heart from racing. What did they have planned for me? And what was this asset they were so desperate to retrieve? I knew I had to tread carefully, but I also knew I had to know more. "I'm listening," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral. Shigaraki grinned, a cold, calculating smile. "Excellent," he said, leaning back in his chair. "I think we're going to get along just fine, Vesper-chan."
