**Chapter 5: Lucas to the Rescue**
Part 5
The sound of her body hitting the floor was like a punch to Lucas's gut. He had been so engrossed in his work, typing away on his laptop, that he hadn't even noticed Dorothy's distress. But as he looked up, he was met with a sight that made his heart skip a beat. Dorothy was collapsing on the floor, her eyes wide with fear and panic. Without hesitation, Lucas jumped up from his chair and rushed to her side. He reached her just in time, catching her in his arms as she hit the floor. He felt a surge of adrenaline as he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "Dorothy, what's happening?" he asked, his voice shaking slightly with concern. He tried to keep his tone calm, but he could feel the panic rising up inside him. Dorothy's eyes locked onto his, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Lucas could see the fear and confusion in her eyes, and he knew that he had to stay calm for her. As he looked down at her, he noticed that her clothes were wet, and he realized that her water had broken. He felt a jolt of surprise, but he quickly pushed it aside, focusing on the task at hand. "I'm going to take care of you," he said, trying to reassure her. "Just hold on to me." Dorothy's arms wrapped around his neck, holding on tightly as her body continued to betray her. Lucas could feel her trembling in his arms, and he knew that he had to get her comfortable. He gently laid her down on the floor, trying to make her as comfortable as possible. As he looked down at her, he could see the pain etched on her face, and he knew that they had to act fast. "I'm going to call for help," he said, trying to keep his voice calm. "We're going to get through this, okay?" Dorothy nodded, her eyes still locked on his. Lucas could see the trust in her eyes, and it gave him the strength to keep going. He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed 911, trying to stay calm as he explained the situation to the dispatcher. As he waited for the ambulance to arrive, he stayed by Dorothy's side, holding her hand and talking softly to reassure her. The pain was intense, and Lucas could see it written all over Dorothy's face. He felt a surge of helplessness, but he pushed it aside, focusing on the task at hand. He was going to get her through this, no matter what. As he looked down at her, he felt a wave of love and concern wash over him. He knew that this was it, the moment they had been preparing for. Their baby was on the way, and he was going to be there for her every step of the way. The room seemed to fade away, and all that was left was Lucas, Dorothy, and the unknown. But in that moment, Lucas knew that everything was going to be okay. He had Dorothy, and he was going to take care of her, no matter what.
