Chapter 72: A Newfound Connection
Part 72
The city lights began to twinkle as they strolled hand in hand, the warm glow of the setting sun casting a romantic ambiance over the quiet streets. Kageyama couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness as he walked beside Oikawa, his heart still racing from their kiss. He had never felt this way before, and he wasn't sure how to process his emotions. As they walked, Oikawa pointed out different landmarks and shared stories about the city's history, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. Kageyama listened intently, feeling a sense of wonder and curiosity that he had never experienced before. He had always seen Oikawa as his coach, but now he was seeing him in a new light. As the night wore on, they found themselves at the waterfront, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore creating a soothing melody. Oikawa stopped and turned to Kageyama, his eyes locking onto his. "I'm glad we're doing this," he said, his voice low and husky. "I feel like I've been wanting to do this for a long time." Kageyama's heart skipped a beat as he met Oikawa's gaze. He felt like he was drowning in those eyes, like he was being pulled under by a powerful current. Without a word, Oikawa leaned in and kissed him again, the touch sending shivers down his spine. As they pulled back, Kageyama felt like he was gasping for air, like he had been holding his breath for too long. He looked up at Oikawa, his eyes searching for answers. "What does this mean?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Oikawa smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I don't know," he said, his voice low and husky. "But I do know that I want to explore this with you. I want to see where this takes us." Kageyama nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He had been worried that Oikawa might not feel the same way, that he might be just playing around. But as he looked into Oikawa's eyes, he saw something there that gave him hope. As they stood there, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, Oikawa took Kageyama's hand and led him to a small bench overlooking the water. They sat down, their legs touching, and Oikawa turned to him with a serious expression. "Kageyama, I want you to know that I'm not just doing this because I'm your coach," he said, his voice low and sincere. "I'm doing this because I genuinely care about you. I want to be with you, to support you, to help you grow as a person and as a player." Kageyama felt a lump form in his throat as he looked at Oikawa. He had never seen him so vulnerable, so open. He felt a surge of emotion, a sense of gratitude and love. "I care about you too, Oikawa," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Oikawa smiled, his eyes sparkling with happiness. "I know," he said, his voice low and husky. "And I'm excited to see where this journey takes us." As they sat there, the stars beginning to twinkle in the night sky, Kageyama felt a sense of peace wash over him. He knew that he had found something special in Oikawa, something that went beyond coach and player. And he was excited to see where this newfound connection would lead.
