Confronting the Truth
Part 4
As Tylil and Bryce tried to explain their side of the story, Kai couldn’t help but worry about Ray. He had been so caught up in his own anger that he hadn’t taken the time to check on Ray’s well-being. As Bryce was speaking, Kai interrupted him, his voice firm but laced with concern. "Excuse me, Bryce, but is Ray okay?" he asked, his eyes drifting to Ray. Ray nodded, and Kai's gaze quickly scanned his appearance. His heart sank as he noticed some bruising forming around Ray's neck, a result of Tylil's chokehold. Kai's anger, which had been simmering just below the surface, bubbled back up, and he felt his face grow hot with rage. Tylil, seemingly oblivious to the harm he had caused, spoke up again, attempting to finish their side of the story. "Like I was saying, we were just joking around, and things got out of hand," he said. But Kai wasn't interested in hearing more from Tylil. He interrupted him again, his voice firm. "I'd like to hear Ray's side of the story, please," he said, his eyes locked on Ray. Tylil and Bryce exchanged a look, annoyance written on their faces. It was clear that they felt Kai was showing favoritism to Ray, and they didn't like it. Rakai sat quietly, fidgeting with his hands as he watched the exchange. Ray took a deep breath and began to recount his side of the story. "We were just streaming, and Tylil came up to us, grabbing me and Tota in a chokehold. It was really scary, and I didn't know what was going to happen," he said. Kai nodded, his expression grim. He was listening intently, his anger growing with every word. But before Ray could finish, Bryce interrupted him, his voice laced with sarcasm. "Oh, come on, Kai, you're not really buying this, are you? It's clear you're taking Ray's side here. You're not exactly being impartial," he said. Kai's eyes glared at Bryce, his anger boiling over. "I'm just trying to get to the bottom of what happened," he said, his voice low and even. But it was clear that he wasn't going to let Bryce's comment go unchallenged. The tension in the room was palpable, and it seemed like things were about to escalate.
