The Observer's Presence

Part 3

The next morning, I woke up early, my mind still reeling with thoughts of the mysterious observer and the rumors that had circulated the night before. As I got dressed and made my way to the Gryffindor common room, I couldn't help but wonder who this observer could be and what their role would be. When I arrived at the common room, I found Neville and Seamus already there, sipping on butterbeers and discussing the previous night's events. "I heard it's a Ministry official," Seamus said, his voice low and conspiratorial. "Someone who's been tasked with keeping an eye on the school." "But why?" Neville asked, his brow furrowed in concern. "Is it because of the rumors about the Triwizard Tournament?" I sat down beside them, and we spent the next hour speculating about the observer's identity and purpose. Just as we were starting to get into a heated discussion, Professor McGonagall strode into the common room, a stern expression on her face. "I see you're all aware of the announcement Professor Dumbledore made last night," she said, her eyes scanning the room. "I assure you, the observer's presence is nothing to be concerned about. They are simply here to ensure that Hogwarts is following the necessary... protocols." "Protocols?" I repeated, my curiosity piqued. "What kind of protocols?" McGonagall's expression turned tight-lipped. "I'm not at liberty to say, I'm afraid. But rest assured, the observer's presence is a precautionary measure, and they will be working closely with the staff to ensure everyone's safety." As she turned to leave, Neville called out, "But who is it, Professor?" McGonagall paused, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "That, I'm afraid, is need-to-know information. But I'm sure you'll all find out soon enough." With that, she swept out of the common room, leaving us to continue speculating about the mysterious observer. The rest of the day passed in a blur of classes and rumors. It seemed that everyone was talking about the observer, and the theories were getting wilder by the hour. Some people thought it was a Auror, while others believed it was a high-ranking Ministry official. As I walked back to the Gryffindor common room after dinner, I noticed a figure standing in the shadows near the entrance. They were tall and imposing, dressed in a long, dark coat that seemed to swallow them whole. I nudged Neville and Seamus, nodding discreetly towards the figure. "Do you think that's...?" I whispered. But before we could even speculate, the figure stepped forward, their eyes locking onto mine. For a moment, I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body, as if I had been frozen in place. And then, in a low, smooth voice, the observer spoke, "Brenya, I believe we need to have a word."
