"Reassurance in the Dark"
Part 2
As my hands flailed in the darkness, Hange's expression changed from regret to concern. He quickly moved towards me, his footsteps light and swift. I felt his presence looming over me, and my heart skipped a beat as his warm hands enveloped mine. His touch sent a wave of comfort through my body, and I felt my anxiety begin to dissipate. "It's okay, sweetheart," he whispered, his voice low and soothing. "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere." I squeezed his hands, trying to convey the depth of my emotions. Hange understood me in a way that few others did, and he knew that my blindness was not just a physical limitation, but also an emotional one. He knew that my fear of abandonment was a deep-seated one, and that I needed reassurance from him constantly. Hange pulled me into a gentle hug, and I felt his warmth and scent envelop me. I breathed in deeply, taking in the familiar smell of his cologne and the hint of sweat from his long day. It was a smell that I associated with comfort and safety, and I felt my tension begin to ease. As we hugged, I felt Hange's exhaustion begin to seep into his body. His muscles were tense, and his breathing was slow and labored. I knew that he needed sleep, but I also knew that I needed him. "Please don't go," I whispered, my voice barely audible. Hange's arms tightened around me, and he whispered, "I won't, sweetheart. I'll stay with you tonight. We can face tomorrow together." In that moment, I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. Hange was always there for me, no matter what. He was my rock, my safe haven, and my soulmate. As we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. The darkness that surrounded me seemed to recede, and I felt a sense of connection to the world around me. Hange's phone suddenly buzzed, breaking the spell. He sighed and pulled back, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for the device. I heard him answer the call, and his voice was low and professional. As he spoke, I felt a pang of disappointment. I knew that he had to go, but a part of me didn't want him to leave. I wanted him to stay with me, to hold me, and to keep me safe. But as I listened to Hange's conversation, I realized that it was just a work call. He was discussing some technical details with one of his team members, and his voice was firm and authoritative. As he ended the call, he turned to me and said, "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I have to get some rest. But I promise, I'll be here with you all night." I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I knew that Hange would keep his promise, and that he would be there for me no matter what. As he led me to the bedroom, I felt a sense of excitement building inside me. I knew that tonight would be different, that Hange would be here with me, and that we would face whatever challenges came our way together.
