Confronting the Unspoken

Part 35

"I.. you told me you loved me, Kou.. l-last night…" Mitsuba stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. He pulled himself up, his eyes locking onto Kou's as he searched for answers. His face was still flushed from their earlier encounter, and his hair was disheveled, but his eyes shone with a mix of determination and vulnerability. Kou's gaze faltered, and he looked away, trying to escape the intensity of Mitsuba's stare. But Mitsuba wasn't having it. He gently grasped Kou's chin, forcing him to meet his eyes once more. "H-hell! We weren't under the influence yet, you jerked me off and- and stuff escalated from there! You.. you even ate me out.. who does eat someone out if they don't love them!" Mitsuba's words tumbled out in a rush, his tone a delicate balance of humor and sternness. He was a blushing mess, his cheeks and ears reddened, but his eyes sparkled with a hint of amusement. Kou's face went blank, his eyes darting around the room as he tried to process Mitsuba's words. He had indeed told Mitsuba that he loved him, and now that it was being brought up, he couldn't deny it. The memories of the previous night came flooding back, and he recalled the way his body had reacted to Mitsuba's touch, the way his heart had swelled with emotion. Mitsuba's grip on his chin tightened, and Kou's gaze snapped back to the younger boy's face. "A-answer me, Kou!" Mitsuba urged, his voice laced with a hint of desperation. "You said it, and I want to know if you meant it!" The air was thick with tension as Kou struggled to find the right words. He could feel Mitsuba's heart beating against his own chest, and he knew that he had to make a decision. He couldn't avoid the question forever. With a deep breath, Kou's eyes locked onto Mitsuba's, and he spoke from his heart. "Mitsuba, I...I don't know what to say. I was caught up in the moment, and I said things that I...that I might not have meant." But as he looked into Mitsuba's eyes, he knew that he was lying. He had meant it, every word. Mitsuba's face fell, and he looked away, his eyes welling up with tears. Kou's heart ached, and he reached out, pulling Mitsuba into a tight hug. "No, Mitsuba, please listen to me," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "I do care about you, deeply. And I think...I think I might have meant it, more than I'm willing to admit." As Kou spoke, he could feel Mitsuba's body relax into his arms, and he knew that he had to be honest with himself and with the younger boy. The question was, what did it mean for their relationship, and where did they go from here?
