Whispers of Montressor
Part 1
Ayres "Sol" Le sol lounged on her plush couch, surrounded by stacks of dusty textbooks and scattered notes. Her caramel skin glistened in the soft light of her Montressor home, and her hazel eyes sparkled with a mixture of curiosity and exhaustion. Long, messy curls of honey brown hair cascaded down her back, with vibrant magenta highlights that seemed to dance in the dim light. A sweet, round face and feline-esque features made her look like a delicate, exotic doll. Sol's fingers absently toyed with the gold hoop earrings that adorned her ears, a habit she'd developed over the years. Her wrists were adorned with colorful bangles that jingled softly as she moved. She took a languid drag on her joint, exhaling a stream of smoke as she pored over her anthropology textbook. Sol was a stoner, and she found that marijuana helped her relax and focus on her studies. As she read, Sol's mind wandered to her future plans. She was determined to finish high school and apply to the prestigious Space Academy, where she could study anthropology and botanical sciences. Her passion for learning and exploration drove her to pursue her dreams, despite the challenges she faced. Sol's phone beeped, breaking the silence of her room. She set her joint aside and picked up the device, smiling as she saw a text from her best friend, Nadine. "Hey, Sol! What's up? You free to hang out later?" Nadine's message read. Sol's response was immediate. "Hey, girl! Yeah, I'm free. What's up?" The two friends chatted for a while, discussing their plans for the day. Sol's mom called out from the kitchen, reminding her that she had an appointment at The BenBow Inn to apply for a job. Sol's heart skipped a beat as she thought about the opportunity. She had heard that the inn was run by Captain Hawkins' mother, and she was excited to meet the famous captain's son, Jim. As Sol prepared to leave, her big sister, Rachel, poked her head into the room. "Hey, Sol! You got this, kiddo. Show them what you're made of." Sol grinned, feeling a surge of confidence. She took one last drag on her joint, then extinguished it before heading out the door. As she walked to The BenBow Inn, Sol felt a sense of excitement and nervousness building in her chest. She had no idea what the future held, but she was ready to take on the challenge. The warm sunlight of Montressor's twin suns beat down on her skin as she walked, and Sol couldn't help but feel a sense of hope and possibility. She was ready to take on the universe, one step at a time.
