"Life Changes"

Part 5

The phone rang, shrill in the silence of the room, and Sabrina picked it up, her voice cheerful as she answered. Nick and Maya exchanged a look, still basking in the afterglow of their intimate moment, and went back to cuddling each other. Sabrina chatted for a few minutes, her expression changing from happy to stunned, and then she hung up, her eyes fixed on Nick and Maya. "Guys, I have some news," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "I just got a call from my manager, and I'm going on tour for three months." The room fell silent as Nick and Maya processed the information. Sabrina's tour was a big deal, but it also meant that she would be away from them for a long time. Nick's arms tightened around Maya, and he felt a pang of sadness. They had just gotten to a new level in their relationship, and now Sabrina would be gone. Maya's eyes met his, and he could see the same emotions reflected back. They would be alone for three months, missing their girlfriend and dealing with the distance. Sabrina's face fell as she saw the reaction on their faces. "I'm so sorry, guys," she said, her voice cracking. "I didn't know about the tour until now. I feel like I'm leaving you two behind." Nick and Maya exchanged a look, and then Nick spoke up. "It's okay, Sabrina," he said. "We're proud of you. This is a great opportunity for you." Maya nodded in agreement, and Sabrina's face brightened slightly. "But I'll miss you guys so much," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Nick and Maya pulled her into a hug, holding her close as they all processed the changes that lay ahead. As they hugged, Nick couldn't help but think about the next three months. He and Maya would be alone, dealing with the distance and missing Sabrina. But they would also have each other, and their love was strong enough to withstand anything. Sabrina pulled back, her eyes shining with tears. "I'll make sure to stay in touch," she said. "We'll Skype and text each other every day." Maya smiled, and Nick could see the determination in her eyes. "We'll make it work," Maya said. "We'll count down the days until you're back." Sabrina smiled, looking a little better, and the three of them hugged again, holding each other close as they faced the unknown. As they pulled back, Nick looked at Maya, and he could see the sadness in her eyes. They would miss Sabrina, but they would also have this time to focus on each other. He smiled, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. The next three months would be a challenge, but they would also be an opportunity for growth and exploration. Sabrina stood up, her eyes fixed on them. "I'll start packing," she said. "I have a lot to do before I leave." Nick and Maya nodded, watching as she walked out of the room, her shoulders a little straighter. As the door closed behind her, Nick turned to Maya, his arms opening wide. "We're in this together," he said, his voice filled with conviction. Maya smiled, and she walked into his arms, her body fitting perfectly against his. They stood there for a moment, holding each other close, and Nick knew that they would face whatever came next, as long as they had each other. The distance would be tough, but their love was stronger. They would make it through the next three months, and when Sabrina returned, they would be ready, their love even more resilient and strong.
