New Addition

Part 1

The University of Connecticut's women's basketball team had just gotten a whole lot stronger. Azzi Fudd, a talented and determined player, had officially joined their roster. As she walked into the team's practice facility, she was met with a mixture of curious stares and welcoming smiles. Azzi's eyes scanned the room, taking in the familiar faces of her new teammates. G Geno Auriemma, the team's head coach, stood at the front of the room, a warm smile on his face. "Welcome, Azzi. We're thrilled to have you on board. I know you've had a great career so far, but we're excited to see what you can bring to our team." Azzi nodded, her long blonde hair bobbing with the motion. "Thanks, Coach. I'm excited to be here." As the team began to stretch and warm up, Azzi's eyes landed on one player in particular. Paige Bueckers, the team's star player, was chatting with a group of teammates, her bright smile and infectious laugh drawing everyone's attention. Azzi felt a slight pang of intimidation, having heard of Paige's impressive skills on the court. As the team began to run through drills, Azzi was impressed by Paige's work ethic and dedication to the game. She found herself watching Paige's movements, analyzing her techniques, and trying to learn from her. After practice, the team gathered in the locker room, exchanging stories and getting to know one another. Paige walked over to Azzi, a friendly smile on her face. "Hey, Azzi. I'm Paige. Welcome to the team." Azzi returned the smile, feeling a bit more at ease. "Thanks, Paige. I'm excited to be here." The two chatted for a few minutes, discussing everything from basketball to their personal lives. Azzi was surprised by how easy it was to talk to Paige, how down-to-earth and genuine she seemed. As they parted ways, Paige couldn't help but feel a spark of curiosity about Azzi. There was something about Azzi's guarded demeanor that intrigued her, something that made her want to get to know Azzi better. Little did Paige know, Azzi was hiding secrets of her own. Secrets that could change everything. As Azzi left the practice facility, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Hey, Emma. Yeah, I made it. The team seems nice. I'll talk to you later, okay?" Azzi hung up the phone, a look of concern etched on her face. She glanced around, making sure no one was watching, before pulling out a small photo from her wallet. It was a picture of her and her 3-year-old daughter, Emma. For a moment, Azzi's tough exterior cracked, revealing a glimpse of the vulnerable person beneath. She quickly tucked the photo back into her wallet, her guard firmly back in place. But Paige was already on her radar, and it wouldn't be long before she discovered Azzi's secrets.
