"Descent into Darkness"
Part 7
As Halsin's grin still lingered on his face, he reached out with one of his massive hands and wrapped it around my throat. His fingers were like a vice, closing around me with a crushing force that made my eyes bulge. I tried to speak, to beg him to stop, but my voice was barely a whisper. Halsin's grip tightened, and I felt my airway begin to constrict. My vision started to blur, and I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me. The patrons of the tavern seemed to be frozen in place, still too shocked and horrified to intervene. Some of them took a step back, their faces pale with fear, while others seemed rooted to the spot, unsure of what to do. I tried to struggle, but Halsin's grip was too strong. He was choking me, squeezing the life out of me with a slow and deliberate pressure that seemed to be sadistic in its intent. My lungs burned, and my head spun, as I realized that I was going to die. Right there, in that filthy tavern, I was going to meet my end at the hands of this monster. Halsin's eyes seemed to gleam with excitement as he watched me struggle. His face was inches from mine, his breath hot against my skin as he whispered, "You should have stayed out of this, little one. You should have just stayed out of my way." His voice was low and menacing, and I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized that I was completely at his mercy. I tried to plead with him, to beg for mercy, but all that came out was a strangled gasp. My body was starting to shut down, my muscles seizing up as my brain was starved of oxygen. I was trapped, unable to move or escape, as Halsin's grip continued to tighten. The world around me was starting to fade, and I knew that I was running out of time. I was going to die, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Halsin's face seemed to be the last thing I saw, his eyes gleaming with a sadistic pleasure as he choked the life out of me. But just as all hope seemed lost, I felt a sudden surge of adrenaline. It was a spark of defiance, a refusal to give up that ignited within me. I focused all my energy on one thing: survival. I had to get out of this alive. And with that thought, I found the strength to struggle, to fight back against Halsin's grip, no matter how futile it seemed.
