A Moment Unspoken
Part 24
The five of them regrouped in the alley, laughter echoing as if nothing unusual had happened. But Yuna kept glancing at Yeji and Ryujin, her head tilted slightly. “What was that about?” she asked, squinting at them. “Are you guys, like… method acting for the dating contract Jinwon put you under?” Yeji smiled quickly. “Yeah. She told us to practice when no one was watching.” “It was nothing,” Ryujin added, brushing it off with a shrug. Yuna laughed. “Oh, okay. I almost thought you guys liked each other for a second.” The others laughed too, brushing off the comment as a joke. As they turned and headed toward the station, Ryujin and Yeji exchanged a silent look — unreadable, lingering. They boarded the train to the park, finding seats near the window. The city lights blurred and gave way to greenery, the soft golden hour glow casting a warm light through the glass. Outside, the scenery transformed; buildings and neon signs were replaced by trees and parks. As they rode the train, their fingers brushed once between them — no words, just warmth. The accidental touch sent a spark through both of them, and they quickly looked away, trying to compose themselves. The train ride was short, and soon they arrived at the park. They walked through the gates, the air fresh and slightly cool. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the trees, creating a soothing melody that accompanied their footsteps. Distant laughter from families and children's playful shouts filled the air, adding to the lively atmosphere. After a short walk, they found a spot under a tall tree and laid out their blanket. Out came snacks, drinks, and a few small games — a perfect mix of comfort and distraction. Yuna pulled out the soju. “Let the drinking games begin,” she exclaimed, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. As they settled in, the atmosphere grew more relaxed, and they began to enjoy each other's company. The games and laughter filled the air, but Ryujin and Yeji couldn't help but steal glances at each other, their eyes locking in a silent understanding. The kiss in the alleyway still lingered in their minds, and the tension between them remained palpable, even as they laughed and joked with their friends.
