A Moment's Peace

Part 74

The knock at the door grows louder, and Ochaco's expression turns questioning. I set my cup of tea down, feeling a sense of trepidation wash over me. Who could it be now? I thought I'd finally found a moment of peace. Ochaco gets up to answer the door, and I hear her say, "Just a minute!" as she makes her way to the other side. I take a deep breath, preparing myself for whatever is about to happen. The door creaks open, and I hear a low, gravelly voice say, "I didn't mean to interrupt, but I need to talk to Izuku." It's Sero, one of my classmates and a member of the support team. Ochaco's voice floats back into the room, "What's going on, Hitoshi? Can't it wait?" There's a hint of protectiveness in her tone, and I appreciate her looking out for me. Sero responds, "I'd rather not discuss it out here. Can I come in?" There's a pause, and then Ochaco steps aside, allowing him to enter. As Sero enters the room, he's followed by another familiar face – Kirishima. His rugged features are set in a concerned expression, and he looks like he's been up all night. The room falls silent for a moment as Sero and Kirishima take in the scene before them. Ochaco is still standing by the door, a cup of tea in her hand, and I'm sitting on the bed, trying to appear composed. Sero clears his throat, breaking the silence. "Sorry to intrude, but I think we need to talk about what happened in the common room." His eyes flicker to me, and I can tell he's trying to gauge my reaction. Kirishima steps forward, his voice low and serious. "Yeah, and I think I might have some information that can help clear things up." Ochaco sets her cup down and comes back to sit beside me on the bed. She takes my hand in hers, offering a reassuring squeeze. I look at Sero and Kirishima, curious about what they might have to say. "What is it?" I ask, trying to sound calm. Sero takes a deep breath before speaking. "I was in the area when the argument started, and I think I might have seen something that could help us figure out what really happened." Kirishima nods in agreement. "Yeah, and I talked to some of the other students who were there. It seems like there's more to the story than what we've been told so far." Ochaco's grip on my hand tightens, and I can sense her curiosity piqued. I lean forward, eager to hear what they have to say. Maybe, just maybe, this is the start of unraveling the mess that's been plaguing me. As Sero and Kirishima begin to explain what they've discovered, I realize that this conversation could go in a lot of different directions. But one thing's for sure – it's about to get a lot more complicated.
