"Uncertainty's Shadow"
Part 28
As I turned to leave, I hesitated for a moment, then turned back to Aizawa-sensei. "Sensei, I have one more question," I said, my voice a little stronger now. Aizawa-sensei raised an eyebrow, his expression curious. "What is it, Vesper?" I took a deep breath, thinking about Oslo, my constant companion, my shadow. "Does Oslo have to be my shadow, or can he roam around in the world?" I asked, my eyes locked on Aizawa-sensei's. Aizawa-sensei's expression turned thoughtful, and he rubbed his chin, a habit I'd grown accustomed to. "That's a good question, Vesper. Oslo's connection to you is... unique. As far as I know, a Quirk like yours, with a sentient, autonomous entity like Oslo, has never been seen before." He paused, collecting his thoughts. "From what I understand, Oslo's primary function is to observe and learn, but that doesn't mean he's bound to you at all times. He can, in fact, roam free, but there are risks involved." I leaned in, my curiosity piqued. "What kind of risks?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Aizawa-sensei's eyes turned serious. "If Oslo roams too far from you, he may lose his connection to you, and that could have... unpredictable consequences. Additionally, if he's not careful, he could attract unwanted attention from those who might seek to exploit his abilities." I nodded, taking in the information. I had to be careful, not just for myself, but for Oslo as well. "But can I allow him to roam free, sensei?" I asked, seeking clarification. Aizawa-sensei nodded. "Yes, you can. It's up to you to decide how much freedom to give him. However, I would advise you to keep a close eye on him, at least for now. We don't know what kind of attention your Quirk might attract, and I don't want Oslo to become a liability." I nodded, feeling a sense of responsibility wash over me. I would have to be careful, not just with my own Quirk, but with Oslo's as well. I turned to leave, but Aizawa-sensei's voice stopped me. "Vesper?" I turned back to him. "Yes, sensei?" His eyes seemed to bore into mine, searching for something. "Be careful, Vesper. The world can be a cruel place, and I'm not just talking about the villains. There are those who might seem friendly, but have ulterior motives. Trust no one, at least not yet." I nodded, feeling a shiver run down my spine. I was in for a wild ride, it seemed.
