Chapter 1: New Beginnings

Part 1

The sun was setting over the rolling hills of the countryside, casting a warm orange glow over the grand estate of the Potter family. Regulus Black and his brother Sirius had been living with James Potter, his parents Euphemia and Fleamont, for a few weeks now. It had been a drastic change for the two Black brothers, who had grown tired of their family's dark and oppressive household. Regulus, who normally wore a binder to flatten his chest and hide his feminine features, had grown accustomed to his new life. He had been so focused on adjusting to his new surroundings that he had almost forgotten about his own anatomy. He had been born with female features, but he identified as a boy and had always preferred to present himself as such. As he sat in the drawing room, he made a sudden decision. He wouldn't wear his binder today. He felt comfortable and relaxed in his new home, and he didn't see the need to hide his true self. He wore a simple white t-shirt and a pair of loose-fitting pants, feeling carefree and content. Just as he was starting to relax, he heard the sound of the door opening. James Potter walked in, a friendly smile on his face, but it quickly faltered as his eyes landed on Regulus. James's eyes widened in surprise, and he stumbled over his words. "Reg, I... uh... hi," James stuttered, trying to compose himself. Regulus looked up at James, a hint of amusement in his eyes. He wasn't sure why James was reacting so strongly. He didn't realize that his casual demeanor was a shock to James, who had never seen him without his binder. James tried his best to be respectful, but his eyes kept drifting back to Regulus's chest. He felt a flush rise to his cheeks as he quickly looked away, trying to pretend he hadn't seen anything. "Sorry, Reg, I'll just... uh... come back later," James said, turning to leave. But Regulus called out to him, his voice gentle. "James, wait. It's okay. I just... forgot to put on my binder today." James turned back to face Regulus, his eyes wide with surprise and curiosity. He didn't know how to react, but he knew he wanted to be respectful and supportive of his friend. "Reg, it's... um... it's okay," James stuttered, trying to find the right words. The two of them stood there for a moment, an awkward silence between them. Regulus smiled to himself, knowing that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in his life, one where he could be himself, without fear of judgment or rejection. But as James stood there, frozen in uncertainty, Regulus couldn't help but wonder how the rest of the household would react to his newfound freedom. Would they accept him for who he was, or would they try to change him? Only time would tell.
